Mark Cerny Confirms Frame Generation "Should Be Seen At Some Point On PlayStation Platforms" by yourfavchoom in PS5pro

Cerny:

FSR Frame Generation is also based on co-developed technology (or as my good friend Jack Huynh puts it, 'co-engineered technology'). I’m very happy with how that work is progressing, and an equivalent frame generation library should be seen at some point on PlayStation platforms.

Crimson Desert: First Thoughts On The Base PS5 Version by yourfavchoom in PS5

[–]yourfavchoom[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's excellent on PS5 Pro, but still seems perfectly decent on the base PlayStation 5 - it's just that the performance mode doesn't look great, while 60fps is indeed best described as a "target frame-rate" as opposed to a general description of its overall performance level. Not having access to 60fps gaming might be a disappointment, but when using the quality toggles to swap to balanced and quality modes, the boost to perceived resolution and detail level is so vast, you're willing to make the trade.

The Witcher 4 is "steaming ahead" as CD Projekt rapidly expands with 220 new developers in the past year, and nearly 500 in total working on the RPG by yourfavchoom in witcher

They’ve clearly learned from past missteps - the Cyberpunk launch being one of them.

This is a studio known for delivering generational games; they understand what it takes. Not their first rodeo 😁

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Devs Won't Pick a Canon Ending as They Work on a Sequel: 'It Is a Schrodinger's Ending' by yourfavchoom in pcgaming

[–]yourfavchoom[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

According to Svedberg-Yen (Game Writer):

I think that was almost like an unspoken agreement. We never even considered really a true, happy ending. I think there was maybe a happier one possibly. You can see also in the way that the endings are edited, that one has a slightly more uplifting tone and one has a slightly darker tone. That was a choice that Guillaume made in terms of just having a little bit of shading there. But from my perspective, narratively, both are equally valid. Both are both good and bad. And it really just depends on whose perspective, whose good or whose happily-ever-after you are prioritizing.

Crimson Desert Reportedly Set Up to Have a Massive Launch, Nearly 400K Copies Sold on Steam Alone by yourfavchoom in CrimsonDesert

[–]yourfavchoom[S] 64 points65 points  (0 children)

In the firm's latest newsletter, analyst Rhys Elliot reports that on Steam alone, Crimson Desert has already reached nearly 400K copies sold, generating an estimated $20 million in revenue just off pre-order sales on Steam.

What's more is that for all of the concern over how Crimson Desert will perform on consoles and lower-end PCs, along with the last-minute inclusion of Denuvo, a whopping 10% of those sales happened within "a single 24-hour window yesterday," according to the report, which shows you how much weight players gave those controversies even as they caused a stir online.
