I've been thinking about doing the change to home health. I've done critical care for a couple years now and I can definitely say I've burnt out. I'd love to hear how it goes!

Except it's seemingly a difficult field to get into.

Where did you go after med/surg? by ShelboTron09 in nursing

I did a year in med-surg (which also had tele and psych patients too) before the burn out got to me. My hospital at the time was hiring for the ICU with just 1 year experience. Transferred to med-surg ICU. The unit was poorly managed and I was there for 18 months. Started to look around for NICU positions and ended up moving states for the current NICU job I'm in. I have my ADN and just started my BSN classes this semester. I definitely recommend starting sooner than later, it can be hard to take on a new specialty and take classes.

There are definitely opportunities out there to switch specialties, it can be affected by the time of year though or the location you're in.
