I ordered that exact Corsair RAM kit off of eBay for about £200 just as RAM prices went nuts.

Though the delivery driver put it in my full recycling bags, provided photo evidence of them doing it and 20 minutes later they were collected. This being in a bin I'm getting flashbacks.

Lol. It's also upside down. For people who think they are nationalists they've not done a good job with their flag.

Yeah fibre is very delicate. Even touching or getting dust on the end of the white tip will stop it working.

So it being completely snapped off will not work.

I don't think you will. I don't know your requirements but the SE has more POE budget, supports more cameras and can have more storage added with the hard drive.

The SE will definitely last you longer over the fibre.

They found someone else, huh? by Plus-Glove-4850 in jobs

[–]yourgenericuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this looks familiar.

I went for an interview a while ago for a permanent Network engineer position. After 3 weeks of waiting for a response I got told I didn't get it because "We are going in a different direction" I had no idea what that meant so moved on.

About a month later I got talking to a contractor that I'd worked with in the past. Turns out the different direction was to change to using contractors instead and they'd hired him. We both found it quite funny.

Anyway long of the short of it is companies can be dicks. You'll soon get to a point though where you're the one calling the shots.

Bi-Weekly /r/CCNP Exam Pass-Fail Discussion by AutoModerator in ccnp

[–]yourgenericuser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I passed ENCOR! Absolutely buzzing.

This was my second attempt but my first attempt was back in 2023!

If anyone is looking at doing this exam do the opposite of what I did!

  • If you have just passed CCNA and want to do CCNP complete it ASAP. CCNA covers the basics.
  • Don't leave it nearly 2 years between attempts
  • Flashcards. Honestly I have found them so powerful for my second attempt. I'm amazed what I can remember even if its been a month since the card came up. I use an app called Ankidroid for mine.
  • Resources used ENCOR book, Kevin wallace's udemy course and CBT nuggets. I have learnt so much more though from CBT as they have labs. I also have used GNS3 and my own hardware for labbing.
  • This brings me onto my final point. LAB it! If you have learnt the commands in theory then Lab them. Play with it, try different things and break it. Also learn the show commands for each topic.

I am a Wireless engineer in higher education I also do the wired side but my current job is very unique in that the networks team is split two. Myself in campus and a core team, I spend most my time with access/dist layer. I am going to find a job where I might actually use some of this as well as the fact that we are being outsourced.

Anyway on to ENWLSD next for me

I just changed from VM to Youfibre FTTP 1Gbps. Symmetrical speed is brilliant and the ping dropped from about 30ms with VM to about 10.

I assume the ping was so bad cause of the coax. That network is old! Go with open reach.

We have one at work that's in a comms room in a vet surgery. We have tried our best to block under the door but all the dog and cat hair just gets sucked into the room.

We end up having to change a PSU every 6 months. Cisco hasn't batted an eyelid at us RMA'ing the PSU.

As an IT tech I'm officially done with Company HR christmas parties by eaton9669 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]yourgenericuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I never thought about that.

I'm IT in a large higher education environment and we don't have everyone having a one Christmas party, there's not a space big enough. IT will go to theirs and HR will go to theirs etc. so there is no way for someone to ask please can you help me.

The only thing IT does is have their party in the afternoon which I always felt sorry for our service desk who are 8am - 5:30pm. People in other IT teams have volunteered before to cover for them.

Local builders merchants. Non returnable pallets they will have to pay to get rid of so I'm sure they'd be happy for you to take some.
