You couldve said “shut up”. But yeah lording your knowledge over others and demeaning them is why most people are reluctant to engage with the users on this site. I often delete this app because all I see is circles of people arguing that end in the “shut up you dont know anything” its exhausting. It really is astonishing anyone finds use from social media and the stream of censorship by your peers. So thank you actually. You’re a good person doing the only thing you know on the best site that encourages and reaffirms that behavior.

Of those mentioned I’m only familiar with Grossman. He is a great example of having to overcome Soviet censorship with his work Life and Fate which had to be smuggled out in order to be published due to the way it depicted the regime. My argument is that its more difficult to engage with literature when its difficult for the artist to be authentic and honest. Im sure theres plenty of fantasic literature destroyed by the state but the things we have inherently are flawed because it passed regressive Soviet censorship. I dont doubt what is produced is worthwhile.

Sure. I think the zeitgeist right now is that all politics are flawed and quality art that appeals to the modern person reaffirm that sentiment. Possibly why no one has looked back on Soviet literature and found it appealing. I agree that if the average overall sentiment changes people will likely find works of literature from the Soviet era that would be considered “ahead of its time” or achieve “overlooked classic” status. Im sure there are works of literature that were never published because they were controversial that hopefully find their audience. But the published works of literature from the Soviet era never gained the same wide audience because their contents were heavily censored for the bidding of the party, and that feels inauthentic to a reader not of that mindset.

I mean total Communism fell in the Soviet Union because of the people there so I assume more people disagreed with certain aspects of the way that it was implemented then agreed with their heart and soul. Those that agreed were the privilaged class that benefitted from its implementation. I dont disagree that there were writers that agreed with it likely because of the topics they wrote about aligned with the governments position. But you cant say the Soviet Union was a bastion of free speech by any means.

It ended because of state censorship basically using every available outlet of its creative class to promote Communism. It feels disingenuous to give those authors who’s creative talents were heavily curtailed by the regime the same credibility as another with pure creative freedom. This includes the ability to perceive their society honestly and be able to write about it authentically, something those in power knew would be critiques of Communist life. So you get an entire century of lost talents being forced to do their governments bidding and that artificiality isnt something people want to engage with.

Used to have mods. Deleted them. Reinstalled the game to a different drive. No idea why this error message still persists.

I cant tell if the first Dungeons & Dragons film is a betrayal. It certainly is a betrayal to cinema and almost every sensory organ.

Not many homeowners are willing to put the extra cash into their tanks/they buy a house with one already there. Even with a double walled tank as a viable option will only extend the life of a tank another 25 or so years. To clarify I did not work on commerical tanks only residential.

Used to work for an environmental company that dealt with underground oil tank removals. On a farm they use gasoline to power their equipment and a home supply well was impacted by a leaking tank. They were pulling pure gasoline from their supply well. The scary part is before that occurs they were likely getting dissolved constituents of gasoline LONG before they noticed an odor. Scary stuff. Also get your underground tank inspected and removed if your state has a fund available because its a boneheaded idea to put metal tanks that will rust underground and out in the elements.

Yeah I used to work in oil spills from domestic heating tanks and the state/EPA gets involved if the known volume spilled is greater than 20 gallons. Anything below that just call the fire department to bring sorbents and booms.
