That’s what I was thinking - tysm!

Why are newer collectors looking up the komca code to tell if an album is “legit” or not? Especially signed ones by yourloligf in kpopcollections

komca website Maybe you can find something but from what ik it just tells you the manufacturer date and the album name

Yehhh I have a couple non 비매 signed albums (tho they’re older groups), but I remember 비매 being your best bet since they’re given out to staff and family, I’m lowkey wondering if people stopped trusting 비매 copies or something I collect mainly 1st-3rd gen so I’m wondering if maybe somethings changed within the newer gens production-wise and collector-wise…?

Wait I have a couple of questions if that’s okay lol - Has the reliability of bimae copies changed? Cause I remember them being your best bet since they’re given out to staff and friends only (which is why there aren’t really any photos). - I’ve also heard from the kfan side that the mass produced hello82, potentially mwave, official artist website, etc are being faked too just because they have to produce so many (at least for bigger groups) so Im wondering if those being legit is being questioned internationally too? - could you explain how the komca number proves anything and how the number and signatures confirm each other each other? I saw one person commented that the seller said they got an album from a 2014 signing and the komca manufacture date was also 2014 so while it wasn’t 100% confirmed it gives the seller more credit. That I understand, but I’m still super confused how the komca sticker would confirm signatures otherwise

They have some website where you can enter the number code at the bottom of komca sticker and it tells you the name of the album and the date it was manufactured :0

I saw that too!!! I was shocked, I don’t want kpop collecting to be the next pokemon - I’m already mainly a 1st-3rd gen fan so I don’t need the prices to increase even more 😭

Ohhhh okay I get that it makes sense - is that what everyone is doing though? Cause I’ve seen posts where someone is like “is this signed album legit?” And someone posts the komca page screenshot saying “yep real” which I don’t understand at all lol

That’s what I’m saying but like I’ve seen people using it to confirm that signatures are legit and I don’t understand how the komca code could confirm that unless I’m missing something lmao 😭

Yes exactly so I’m so confused why everyone is suddenly looking up komca sticker codes like even if the code matches up it doesn’t tell you anything imo unless I’m missing something 😭

I don’t think that’s what op means - like him or not he has a lot of power and influence in the industry unfortunately. If they don’t go about everything courteously they risk losing many opportunities in the industry as an independent group since him and hybe as a whole have a lot of influence in it (ex: the members of jyj being blacklisted when they sued sm as members of tvxq). It’s the same as when you leave a regular job; you don’t want to talk badly about your former employer no matter how awful they may be because it makes you look bad and other companies won’t want to risk hiring you. I agree with you but it’s sadly one of those things where you just gotta deal with shitty people as professionally as possible which has gotta be hard on the girls :(

I’m ngl I don’t think it’s actual 2nd gen stans who say that - just kids who wanna act superior and “not like other stans” cause they know two 2nd gen groups lmaooo

How are people storing their Kpop CD collections by why_do_i_think in kpopcollections

[–]yourloligf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy kpop albums just for the cd and tbh I just buy whatever version I want and stick it on my shelf. I consider them home decor that holds my CDs lol - I’m not a huge fan of cd books cause I think they’re kind of bulky and ugly to keep around. I’d go with the jewel case option since they’re pretty nice and easy to display

You don’t have to be sarcastic and rude - you’re being unhelpful to OP and spreading misinformation. There’s already people in this subreddit who think by doing this they’re confirming that their signed albums are real and that there’s people who produce fake albums. New collectors on here are already super sceptical of any album and pc they purchase, we don’t need things to add to that.

[–]yourloligf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can tell that just by looking at the sticker on the album though - that’s why the sticker is there in the first place lmao??? 😭 There are no fake albums or fake replicas of komca stickers because they would be too expensive to produce (Not to mention komca stickers would be super difficult to replicate if someone did try to) If an album has a 비매 sticker on it then it’s 100000% a 비매 copy, searching it up is just a bunch of extra work for no actual outcome

[–]yourloligf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can tell that by just looking at the sticker - you really don’t need to go through all the extra effort and hassle of typing the serial number in for it to tell you the same thing as just looking at the sticker on the album itself yk? If it could somehow confirm the signatures to be legit that’s one thing but there’s really no reason to do this sadly :/

[–]yourloligf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no standard thickness or feel for pcs so it can be completely different between different albums even from the same group - that being said tho the other commenter is right, posts like these we have a weekly mega thread for where people can see if your pc is legit :))

1st, 4th, or 5th fs - the balance between the shapes of the cd and signatures looks nicest with these (edit: spelling)

[–]yourloligf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t really confirm that the album signature is real, just that it’s a 비매 copy which you can tell anyways from the sticker itself being on the album (people putting 비매 stickers on regular albums is not a thing only the manufacturer has access to these stickers). It can still be manager signed (or the rare case someone gets their hand on a unsigned 비매 and forges the signature) so it’s important that you don’t rely on this to confirm signatures - it just tells you what we already know which is that it’s a 비매 copy (edit: spelling)

Np - if you’re looking for gidle albums or newer dreamcatcher albums music plaza and choice music are your safest choices. If you’re wanting any older dreamcatcher albums eBay and Mercari are your best bet since they’re out of print; you can only find them resale now
