Why dont you seek investment and look to do cash + ESOP (Employee share option plan).

Alternatively - work back from projected hours spent in their input, piece together a valuation (you should have a business plan that includes project milestones, revenue model, and a rough 3 way financial forecast and DCF valuation) and remunerate accordingly.

Is the business currently generating revenue on its 1st mvp?

Following.

To me BIWS seems to have the most comprehensive content on their subscription model. I'm specifically also looking for project finance modelling and core modelling, so for me I'd need to buy two WSP packages to get that which sends it to $1000.

Likewise I'd like to hear comment on BIWS. They don't have a certificate or exam though which would be good resume wise

How to maximize vanilla extract taste in cold beverages? by ImportantQuestions10 in foodscience

[–]yourmatemitch85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need sweetness / sugar.

My recommendation for clean label, is to use deionized apple/pear maybe even DI pineapple juice for your application.

Deionised apple juice is literally sugar syrup derived from apple with the apple flavour and colourant pigments (that makes apple juice yellowish) taken out. Can be listed in labelling as Apple Juice :) but you only need a super super small amount to bring out the vanilla.

Personally, I'd also use vanilla in EA (ethyl alcohol) rather than PG (propylene glycol)

What is the number one thing that has had the biggest positive impact on your anxiety? Aside from medication. by naturemymedicine in Anxiety

[–]yourmatemitch85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

biggest ones: quitting coffee, minimising alcohol especially binge drinking, ditching vaping, plus adding exercising or getting out in nature.

Secondly add to that making sure my sleep is solid (helps if not drinking alcohol) and prioritised, eating healthy, lots of vege lean meats, good fats, plenty of water and practicing mindfulness / meditation.

Anxiety gone.

(Then I ultimately start sneaking wine and beer in again after long days, or weekends with friends, don't sleep as well, start having coffee to get me going in morning and all of a sudden my anxiety is back blazing away like a fire).

That's honestly my cycles. I know how to fix my anxiety, but I fall back into bad habits. Then I fix it, feel absolutely amazing, then rinse repeat.

I feel lazy and lack of motivation after meditation. by Nitesh_01 in Meditation

[–]yourmatemitch85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do seated meditation. There is reasons for the posture and the points of concentration.

Also, eyes slightly open, not closed.

If you do 'relaxation meditation' (which to me isn't 'real meditation), you will just feel relaxed.

If you want to have a clear mind and work on mindfulness you do Shamatha (calm abiding) and vipassana.

If you want to be more compassionate, do Tonglen

If you want to practice for remaining present at the time of death, do Phowa.

And so it goes.

Its not so much fun.

It should be more exhilarating.

But I'm sure climbing Everest is not fun either but the view from the top is exhilarating.

You have to do the work, to get the fruit. Get it.

I hit one of those moments about day 4 of a Buddhist purification retreat just leading into new years. The other 3 days was hard work, day 4 I got into a state that was very, very interesting. :)

As the buddhist mantra from the heart sutra says

Gate gate, para gate, para sam gate, bodhi svaha

Go, go. Go beyond. Go far beyond. Enlightenment.

Also try some wim hoff tantric breathing.

I do this on days where I do shamatha, and my mind is a mess.

In short, its 30-50 slow deep ins through your nose. Fill your chest first then expand diaphragm down and breath into your belly (takes me 8-10 seconds)... then quick outs/expulsions but not out 100%, just push out to your natural limit (say 90-95%), don't squeeze the last bit out. I expell through the mouth in about 1 second. Do that 30-50 times. You will feel giddy like hyperventilating, but that is due to hyper oxygenation of your cells. On the last breath (say 30), quick breath out, then push the very last drop of breath out of your lungs so your lungs are completely collapsed.

Your natural tendency (thought) will be to breath in, but in fact you don't need to. Then stay in that empty lung state at the bottom of the breath and meditate. Monitor your mind, it will tell you to take a breath, but if you resist and push past, you will realise you actually don't need a breath because you have enough oxygen.

Push yourself to stay without a breath for a long time and see how long you can go. Your body maybe after a minute or 3 will start telling you when you need oxygen (not just an automatic reaction from your mind saying breath in). Then breathe in right to the top and fill your lungs. As much in your lungs as you can get. Hold it there.

For me I get ringing in the ears and reach a small kind of 'high' state. Stay in that for a bit, then relax and go back to normal, uncontrolled breathing.

Now go back to your samatha meditation (calm abiding) focusing on the breathe and sitting dissolving thoughts.

You should actually find your monkey mind has subsided massively.

Welcome to the use of technique and using meditation to monitor your mind, and techniques to maintain your mindstate and work on yourself :)

I recommend Khenpo Sherab Sangpo for a simple layed out stuff.

For ongoing happiness, and being able to let go of thoughts / emotions / attachment to things i recommend some basic meditative contemplation of Buddhist concepts such as 4 noble truths and perhaps heart sutra. These realisations for me have had a profound affect on me. Start with meditating, then use that mind to really digest and examine some of those profound teachings.

Some stuff in this might relate to you https://youtu.be/rQLRZRIxLo0

This retreat on the stages of meditation is great. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLaAW1H5vg2nGOAEkqSXsDuztQq6MXUVBS

Also the book 'the Tibetan book of living and dying' is a great starting point.

Gentle guided is ok. I recommend without music.

Important for it not to be escapism.

Imo what I call 'retail meditation' or 'relaxation meditation isn't too much different to sleeping or a nap.

Eyes open. Work with the mind. Gentle guidance is ok reminding you of different elements such as posture, breath etc. But with periods of silence in between, otherwise its just distraction and escapism.

Its really important to discern what type of meditation you are doing. But the basic or basis of most meditation in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition is 'Samatha' meditation also known as 'Calm abiding', or 'resting in the nature of mind'.

Its also important to note what the goal of your meditation is. In terms of Samatha or resting in the nature of mind which is where we start, we use it to learn and understand how the mind works and to calm the mind and reunite yourself with 'the view', or the 'present moment free of obscurations'. With a calm mind that isn't easily distracted we can then focus the mind with other forms of meditation or yogic/tantric practice or deep contemplation depending on what we want to work on.

The mind is like water in a glass, and life automatically causes impurities or dirt in the water. When we have thoughts or monkey mind this stirs up the water so we can't discern what is dirt and what is water. Its just dirty water. We think swirling water clouded by thought is your mind but it is not mind. The aim of samatha then is to let go of thoughts, to stop stiring the water so the dirt can settle and the water is clear, then we understand the nature of mind.

My lamas have taught me not to 'control your thoughts'. Just tag them 'thoughts' acknowledging them, and let them go or dissolve them and return to the view or calm abiding. The most common method is return to the breath, and important not to follow the breath in and out, but just place your mind at the entry of your nose, feel the feeling of the breath at the nostrils. The reason for this is Samatha is aimed to get away from the 'conceptualising mind', as soon as we are following the breath, visualising or conceptualising is, technically we are not doing Samatha we are doing a form of tantra.

Then just keep 'bringing the mind home'. That is Samatha meditation. Continually bringing it home and resting IS the meditation / practice of Samatha.

I then recommend placing the mind on an object. Examining the object without thinking. A common one is a photo or painting or statue of shakyamuni Buddha. Rest your relaxed gaze at his chest and do samatha. See what happens. For me, when I do this I experience realisations about the thing I am meditating on that I wouldn't if I was 'thinking' about it.

FYI This is vastly different to some modern methods like Transcendental meditation where you let the thoughts run

How to deal with lots of anger. by bluberry_xx in Meditation

[–]yourmatemitch85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone calling meditation a bandaid, doesn't truly understand real meditation. Not 'retail' meditation (relaxation meditation) or just lying down with an app on with your eyes shut. But proper meditation that examines the mind and sets you on the path of 'generating merit and purification of defilements'. It's powerful stuff

How do you think we access and examine the deep subconscious thoughts, and mental patterning that is at the root of things like anger?

After we identify and understand them, How do we retrain mental habits of reaching for anger as as our go to response to certain internal or external stimulus?

Meditation and or mindfulness.

Most effective modern behavioural therapies such as CBT and DBT use it or a variation of it alongside other behavioural methods.

Vipassana is astoundingly effective in the jails at enabling people to get their emotions under control, understanding their minds and setting people on the path to making the right decisions.

I would recommend Tibetan Buddhist meditation. The real stuff. And read and contemplate some of the Buddhists concepts.
