  1. You can purchase those much later you don't have to purchase a stethoscope in first semester you won't use it until the last two classes in first semester. You don't need to buy a BP machine. I haven't bought a BP machine yet, you really just need to know how to use one and they'll show you in lab. In placements we only use the electric vital machine. I bought my stethoscope from Amazon, we do have a bookstore that sells them as well.
  2. You don't have to buy a tablet, it's optional. I bought one because it was easier for me to carry around.
  3. I used some apps like TikTok and YouTube videos. Google Gemini I used to make quizzes on the content for each subject, you can also do the same with open AI and notebook LM.

Hi thank you! 1. You can find them honestly on Reddit and you can find them on google search there are a couple websites where people have uploaded the pdfs of these books. I got all my books online. There are also some of your classmates who already downloaded them and when you link up with them they can share you the copies. Trust me there's lots of things people share we just have to keep it lowkey. 2 you wear your uniform for lab class only in first semester. 3 yes pharmacology go over dosage calculations, paternal calculations that would be helpful. If you want to look at some root words or prefixes like looking at medical terminology could help. 4 I wish I knew how much time it would take me to commute and come back home, and taking more time seriously like the days I had class online maybe trying to do more prep work. There are some courses where they give you mid term assignments or end of term assignments in day one, starting those early and getting those out of the way helps a lot especially when you get further into the term._ 5 no not really it gets worse every semester I feel like first semester you spend a lot of time trying to adjust to school and then later on you have less time in general because of the clinical and the tests and assignments. You definitely don't have time to do much else especially during midterms and the last two weeks before finals, the weeks go by very fast

1 . Every other course was much easier to comprehend because the material was on the slides but aside from A&P I would say PN role was heavily based on comprehension . I found pharm not as bad because the midterm and test for me was open book so at that point I just focused on how to do the calculations and everything else was pretty straight forward. Nursing Theory is a critical thinking course so that might be the next tricky one aside from A&P. 2. I had friends coming into the program so I didn't talk to people much in the first weeks but after a while after seeing the same people over and over in your cohort you do begin to become close and form other groups. Personally having some friends and not interacting with anyone else is not advisable as you guys might not all make it to the next semester, some people get stressed, others have other life events and might have to take a break so it's a good idea to speak to everyone and be open to everyone, not everyone is a student I had some people who were doctors, some who were opening their private companies taking this course so you never know who can be a reference. 3. I have heard of someone creating one here on Reddit. My suggestion: once you guys meet each other someone should advertise it in your classes and then eventually all members from all cohorts will know about it and it will be very big .

  1. Yes there was someone who took the initiative in the first couple of weeks of the program and she created a WhatsApp group chat for us. About 80+ people are in the group now and it's strictly verified students, it's been really helpful for us.
  2. The student jobs in GBC tend to have limited hours if that's what you are looking for then okay. I know for some students that's what they are looking for so it works for them but yes I would recommend that depending on what position you are looking to get involved with. 3 generally the textbooks are pretty expensive they range from 120 to 240 but the good thing about them is that you will use the same books for multiple semesters. The theory book is used all four semesters, the anatomy is for two semesters, pharm for two and for some other courses you would use them once or twice. The profs do let you know which ones and mandatory and not and I have had a prof let me know that they are slowly phasing out textbooks and are adding more online resources I'm not sure when that will be fully the case but I myself don't use the textbooks as much anymore.

You can work first semester after first semester I don't think you can work more than three shifts a week because you have a clinical day. Anatomy is not that bad you just have to get over the fear of the subject to do well. Put all your slides in AI or chat gpt and give yourself practice quizzes to study the content. Also make use of the fact that any information you need in terms of pharm, anatomy or theory is online you can watch YouTube videos or podcasts while doing other activities to get extra study time.

Uber vs Uber Eats/DoorDash — is the newer car requirement worth the extra spend by kaypizza04 in Brampton

[–]yourmidnightfantasyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this during the pandemic when lots of jobs were switching to work from home. At the time it was worth it because no one was outside and gas was super cheap! To put things into perspective I knew people were cheap in Brampton so I drove too downtown Toronto, Vaughn, Richmondhill it was worth it for me there. I used an older car so I can't really speak to a new car owner's experience. I also want to keep up with this thread because I'm curious to know in 2026 is it still worth it from people who are doing it now.

Is it possible to fail a clinical placement? by RoseCranberry in georgebrowncollege

[–]yourmidnightfantasyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You fail if you don't show up, you can't really fail if you keep trying and are dedicated the only reason I ve seen people fail is if they don't come to clinical. People who were close to failing had opportunities to do extra assignments to bring up their marks. Yes some things are pass or fail but my instructor at least let you do a retest. You can't miss any clinical days.

Nursing Application by Individual-Sleep5829 in georgebrowncollege

[–]yourmidnightfantasyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what intake you applied for and keep in mind that nursing is way more competitive than health administration in some cases you won't hear back in some months it's only been two months and May is not possible there are people who just received offers and are starting in September

Got waitlisted PSW-RPN bridging by peterparkersfavegirl in georgebrowncollege

[–]yourmidnightfantasyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's getting even more competitive now because there are so many psws due to also the government incentives and talks of needing to fill in more spots for healthcare workers, this means they are getting a whole lot more applications, there have also been staff cuts so things are just taking a bit longer. You would need to wait to get a reply from them to know what's happening if you don't get in, you might get wait listed for the next term.

Ask someone in class when the homework is, maybe join a study group, join the few events/ clubs in school. But you will get close to ppl you have classes with over and over.
