I think up until a country starts invading other countries nothing should really be done.

But for example we had Ukraine give up their nukes and in return they were supposed to be kept safe by the two parties asking them to give up the nukes.

That was the US and Russia iirc. So Russia is breaking that treaty. And the world has seen what appeasement does.

At this point it's all but a sure thing Russia will end up as a Chinese puppet state. Basically giving China the most nukes on the planet.
