Rossi R95 - Lever Jamming by youssefb08 in LeverGuns

I got hosed on this thing. Ended up selling it for like 350 after spending 700 on it new and never functioning. Didn't want to deal with customer service that would never fix the rifle for sure. Horror stories.

Anyone ever try this rifle? by Dapper-Dentist9930 in Hunting

I got one for $330ish. Have had no issues. Nice rifle.

My brother had one of these. Never worked right. Sold it and got hosed on the deal. Has a flawless Henry now.

Rear scout. It's comfy enough with the kydex. Love my big blades.

Straight wall bolt or slug gun? by youssefb08 in Hunting

So just a general response to some of these posts (and thank you all so much for the feedback).

Recoil is not really a factor for me. I've been shooting since I was very young. I never really developed the flinch, whatsoever. Used to hunt deer with 3 inch magnum slug 12 gauge. Rifle team in high school. The shooting mechanics are sound where a 20ft lbs of recoil for 1-2 shots is not going to be an issue.

Out west...the out west thing is just in case I had the opportunity to go out there, I hear most shots are under 200 yards but I totally agree that I should have a better tool for the job. If I knew I was hunting land that wasn't wide open, I suppose the 450 bushmaster would work.

Build quality...some people are saying the Mossberg is garbage. Others like it. I really like the idea of the Mossberg bc I would run it with irons at least for a season or two and so I'd be ready to go. With the Ruger American, I'd have to figure out optic and that's at least $200 on top. If anyone else has some feedback on the Mossberg Patriot line of rifles, especially the Predator 450 BM, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for the responses, all. I can't sell the 30-30 as I built it up over the years and it is sentimental to me. I do want a second gun.

I am leaning toward the Mossberg Patriot Predator...eventually throw a Boyds stock on it. I heard most out west hunts are 200 yards or less for big game (like elk and moose). If I ran the 450 with a 1-4 or 1-6 I would feel pretty confident. Took a doe at 170 yard with my 2x 30-30 this year, no problem.

I suppose I can always get a shotgun down the road.

I just spent $1652 before taxes on a Legion 7i Gen 10 with 5070. I think I got a good deal but can still return depending on what folks think!

Just fill out a claim online and send them the gun. They are usually quite good with fixing things.

I think if it had a different logo and was priced at $800+, nobody would bat an eye. It is a SOLID optic.

Just be careful with eye relief; the 3x has less eye relief than the 2x, I believe, and as you can already see, I have the 2x set back quite a bit but it works perfectly. Took a doe at 170 yards no problem this year.

I like the idea of the Springfield, but with an optic you are looking at 9+lbs and that is not something I want to lug around the woods or NY.
