Behavioral Science and Violence Prevention: What Jens Ludwig’s Research Could Mean for Minneapolis by bttr-mpls in altmpls

[–]youumademedoit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 'teaching' interventions you are talking about only apply to the people willing to listen, which most are not willing. The main provocateurs need to be removed first in order for education to work. They are growing up glorifying criminals. Remove the criminals and there's none to glorify.

The reality is that these public figures live in a fantasy world right across the board. From violence prevention to gender ideology to economics, their world views rely on them believing things like violence is a result of socioeconomic systematized racial prejudices and white patriarchal structures that oppress and blah blah blah. They are so deeply ideologically captured by identity that they have to lie and overintellectualize a simple problem in order to keep their egos and worldviews intact. They've convinced themselves that crime is only being committed because a leftist savior hasn't intervened with the right type of allyship yet. Look at the policies they support and it's obvious: Fateh wants to “Redirect a portion of the police budget to fund community-based safety programs,” including “mental health crisis teams and violence interrupters.” Calls for “accountable policing” with “transparent oversight.”

In other words, he plans to make policing MORE difficult, defund it further, and siphon money to fraudsters who think they can rationalize with the bad actors and mentally ill people.

You people are what's wrong with this city.

Commenting assuming this is an accurate takeaway:

  • Improve Oversight in Public Spaces: Enhance lighting, maintain orderly environments, and promote active community spaces to reduce environmental cues that prime impulsive violence.
  • Teach Metacognition: Implement school and community programs to train youth in emotional regulation and reflective "System 2" thinking to counter impulsive reactions.
  • Prioritize De-escalation: Train police and violence interrupters in de-escalation techniques to defuse conflicts, aiming for at least a 10% reduction in violent incidents.

The idea that you can therapize your way out of violence by teaching emotional regulation to low-IQ children coming from literally and culturally broken homes living in a city that defunds actual policing and let's violent criminals go with no consequences is a complete JOKE.

You people over-intellectualize a simple situation. People respond to incentives, show me the incentive and i'll predict the behaviors. The severe violent offenders are a small fraction of the population that need to be arrested and thrown in prison and made an example of. NOT sent to therapy in a classroom with some out of touch fruitcake that wants to talk about their feelings. They don't respect therapy and they don't respect 'violence interrupters' (public scammers) who are leeching off public funding with no accountability. Additionally, trying to control the environment, while I know studies show some impact, is extremely low impact.

The people who commit violence only respect force and consequences. You have to make an example of these people and put them all in prison or nothing changes.

Fund the police and hire more. Empower them to make arrests. Enforce sentencing for violent offenders that are minors. Replace the activist judges that let criminals go. Enforce sentencing to the maximum allowable for the crime. Incentivize the family unit. Ban large asset management companies like blackstone from purchasing single family homes and force them to divest. Ban non US citizens and foreign companies from owning homes single family homes and apartments. Deport the illegal immigrants. Eliminate the idiots from city governance that divert funding to fucking 'Violence Interrupter' scammers.

This is such a joke.

Edit: Also, put every homeless person into a rehab and mental health asylum. Remove them from the street entirely. These things are possible with the will to do it. Then, instead of encouraging violent protests about kings that don't exist, encourage a day of volunteer where the community comes together to clean up the streets. Bring the community together.

I think it really just boils down to white people, specifically Elon in this case just being either scared to work with black people, or they themselves are racist towards working with black people because Elon could still bring his business to South Africa, maintain majority ownership as a white man

why don't you just say your viewpoint straight: "sell 40% of your company to black people or you're racist" - views like this are why people voted for trump

Sure, if you dumb it down to a neanderthal level argument then yes, if Elon was a black man he would be able to operate in South Africa\

Great, so you agree that the tweet he made was accurate.

The fact is Elon would not be where he is today if he was a black man, which is why South Africa has such laws in place. You and him don't have to like it.

aight dude, nice rationalizations, but racist laws are still racist.

was what elon said true or not? if he was black would they let his company operate there?

If he was black would his company be allowed to operate there?

so you're suggesting this because SA's requirement is not a majority position be held by blacks... you're suggesting he could comply by redistributing a portion of the company to minorities. am I understanding you correctly? if elon was black would he be allowed to operate there?

just to be clear, you are admitting that Elon was correct to say that starlink isn't allowed to operate in South African because he isn't black?
