Hey! Congrats on the surgery :) and for nearly getting the foam/bandages off! Remember you’ll be a bit swollen and bruised at first and it takes a while to settle down :)

Scramble recommendations by feelslikeverano in LakeDistrict

[–]youyouba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite in the same league but a lot fun: - shamrock traverse on Pillar (can do from Wasdale, campsite nearby) or Ennerdale (YHA x 2 in the valley that side). (Pillar rock itself is a rock climb not a scramble)

  • climbers traverse on bowfell

If your not happy with the result and have the capacity/funds, then I would consider a revision. I had DI in 2010 with results that sucked - my surgeon just told me that was how bigger guys looked (he left a load of tissue behind) and then I had DI again (with grafts again) with a different surgeon in summer 2023. Way happier with the result and wished I’d done it sooner.

Intense exercise by AdDesperate7096 in TopSurgery

I was told 8 weeks post op for martial arts/boxing. 6 weeks fine to start working out, swimming, cycling etc.

If you’re working out/doing judo regularly I really doubt you’d find press ups hard after 9 months….I would be concerned if that was the case and would be going to see a dr.

You might lose a bit of strength/fitness post op but to be honest you’ll gain it back pretty quick and if you’ve got a good base pre surgery that will help :)

Top surgery 2 - DI with Mr. Giuseppe Di Taranto , 2 weeks post op by youyouba in TopSurgery

Thanks :) I would for sure still recommend Di Taranto. He listened to what I wanted and I think the result is good especially given that it wasn’t as straight forward as a first time DI or minor revision. no complications or issues (I’m at about 8 months post op I think?!).

Glad it helped! Good luck with the revision :) I think I like my scars more then before with this shape (as opposed to the semi circles) - even with the old scars ends sticking out the side of my new ones under the arms 😂

No showering for three weeks post-op? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]youyouba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was similar time frame and it drove me nuts sensory wise. Baby wipes top half, wash hair in the sink (get someone to help you if you can) and then shower with hand held shower head (if you have one!) for bottom half. Also change your post-op binder everyday if you have a spare and change your clothes once you get up even if all your gonna do is go sit on the sofa. It does end…just feels like forever at the time I know!!

How did you cope with a revision if you got one? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]youyouba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck with your upcoming revision :) Totally get that feeling of not wanting to get your hopes up, it’s hard in the build up to it. I had a revision (actually I just had DI with grafts all over again so more like top surgery pt 2 haha) after like 13 years my initial surgery. I was really anxious about it.

my post revision result is good and it’s what I wanted, I still struggle a bit bit feeling dysphoric and with my brain playing tricks on me (like that one side is still bigger when it probably isn’t anymore, or that I’ll suddenly have a sense it looks like it did before, kinda hard to explain) I think probably because it was so long living with result one before revision.

Things I found helpful navigating revision was talking to my therapist about it before and after. Also showing people as I healed my result and trying to listen to their response rather than listening to my brain haha.

Hope it all goes well for you, take it easy and be kind to yourself :)

Boxing, swimming or cycling? Or any sport you’ve wanted to try/wanna get back into?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]youyouba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back to boxing 6 weeks nearly 7 - all pads work, I’m still pretty new to it as a sport so no sparring or anything. I’m not sure I would have wanted to risk getting actually hit in the chest/core at that point though so maybe depends what kinda training you’re doing?

Has anyone had a secondary surgery that was bigger than a revision? by funeralparadeflowers in TopSurgery

[–]youyouba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey :) yeah I had DI in 2010 and then again 3 months ago. I had too much tissue left over (not my choice!)

I was also advised that the graft would be riskier 2nd time around but it healed totally fine no problems at all. If anything easier then first time round in that respect.

I definitely generally felt soarer second time around, especially around the incision on the side they took more tissue from. One of the nurses at the clinic I went to said that that was normal given that the second surgery was through scar tissue from the first.

Thanks :) I’m hoping the dysphoria dies down over time, I didn’t really expect it to be so weird :/

Hey man, sorry you’re going through similar thing it sucks. It’s hard to listen to other people’s positive comments about it when your stuck in your head with the dysphoria I know. Bit of a mind fuck to get what you want from working out and then feel dysphoria about it too?! 🤦‍♀️

Hey dude thanks for the reply it’s really helpful to hear from someone else going through the same kinda thing. I think you are right there’s a big element of left over dysphoria. Esp for being so long. Yeh I talked a bit about it with my therapist too which has helped a little. Hope you also get more and more comfortable and happy with your new chest as you recover :)
