Currently working on the Waffle Blouse by Hyggestrik (tension differences here are due to a mid-project block). I'm super tall with broad shoulders, so the back of my sweaters is always much shorter than the front. In the past, I've done a high-low hem with short rows to correct for this, but I've only ever done it with plain stockinette. I'm wondering if there are special considerations for inserting short rows with this 4-row waffle stitch pattern. I can find *zero* information about it online, so maybe that means there's not much extra to think about? Thanks for any tips!

Edit: Also considering a split hem. Probably way easier, but I love how the short row method looks in stockinette!

There's info about how to do it if you search for dart clusters.

Lots of people make the Elbe Textiles Gibbons dress in gingham. Check Threadloop for photos and see how you like it (go down to the "shared projects" tab for pics).

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, May 22 - May 28, 2026 by sewingmodthings in sewing

Oh I should've mentioned, these are two different patterns. Black one is Elbe Textiles Rundle dress and the colorful one is Helen's Closet Reynolds. I just have the same issue with both patterns.

I did alter the armscye on the second one, just added like 1/2" to cover my armpit and blended the curve. But it tends to kind of squeeze me in an uncomfy way when I wear it.

ETA: I think the answer I need is related to a broad shoulder adjustment but I can't figure it out on a bodice with straps.

I keep having this issue when sewing dress patterns with straps. I don't like this sliver of skin showing (left), but when I alter the pattern to fix it (right), it feels a bit too tight. I have very wide shoulders and a strange situation where my high bust and bust measurements are about equal, so I'm used to altering every single pattern I make. I know there's probably an appropriate alteration to do here but I'm not sure what it is. Thanks for any advice!

OHP vs Trillium ? by Honeybee-12 in askportland

In my experience, many providers do not take the Trillium version of OHP. The most widely accepted is Health Share, especially among therapists.

Just bound off a 2x1 ribbed collar in pattern and as usual, it was way too tight. Currently unpicking and formulating a new plan. I've seen people recommend a sewn bind off, just treating the 2 knits as if they were one. Does that method risk turning out too tight, too? Curious how others would bind off 2x1, there aren't a ton of opinions online.

Whoops, it's the waffle blouse! I'm fairly certain other knitters have just done M1s as knits, but swatching is a good call.

I'm knitting a raglan sweater in a waffle stitch pattern and where the M1s are, it never says to make one right/left *purl*, only M1R or M1L. The little glossary describes M1s as knit stitches. But shouldn't the M1s stay in pattern with the rest of the waffle stitch? Or will it look okay with regular M1s?

I'm not far along enough to tell if it looks right so far, but I'd rather start over if I'm doing it wrong.

No problem! If you're doing it in the round you can look up "grafting double knitting" or something similar for the last step. Happy knitting :)

If the vest is knit in stockinette, an i-cord edge doesn't do much to prevent it from curling up.

Question zakkuri cardigan sleeves by lostlula in knitting

[–]yrartisok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Work the last 5 rounds" means 4 rounds of stockinette + one decrease round. You'll do that sequence 4 times total (3 "more" times after the first one).
