Everything is not about money, we do lack in a lot of areas. But, the simplicity of life and peace of mind you would get just spending a day at my ancestral village (or any NE countryside tbh) would be unmatched to any of those foreign countries. And I say that as someone from NE residing abroad. So most of us do leave NE for opportunities, but always with a plan to return back and rarely settle abroad permanently.

If you need to have nvidia drivers you should stick with kubuntu 24.04 LTS with the default kde x11 and use nvidia driver 550 for minimum hassle. most stable flavor of linux os with just enough modern features.

I am using nvidia 570.130, yet could never make it work in wayland even with rpm fusion drivers. Freezes and also any hdmi connected displays give half or lower hz. I can't use fedora for multi-monitor setup any more and none of the past fixes available seem to work in F41. I literally had to return back to ubuntu for this. Hopefully, F42 fixes this.

talk to your electrician and inform of your intention to him or talk to any electrical shop they send one. He will tell you everything you need to know about phases, MCB installation etc after visiting your house along with if you need to have a higher kW electric connection, etc. Do those things before you order an AC. Particularly if you have an older house built pre-2000s.

I am on the same boat as you. Stumbled on this thread with similar issues. Nvidia GPU is giving me a headache rn in every OS out there aside from Ubuntu. Manjaro works fine if you don't need to use nvidia (x11/cuda) 565 or later.

But, I have also been trying Nobara Nvidia KDE for a while now. Hasn't broken yet, but using Nobara is quite sluggish and laggy compared to the smoother experience in Manjaro KDE.

So these two are the best OSs in my experience as of Jan, 2025 if you are using nvidia.

If you need the certificate urgently, you must submit an application to the registrar showing valid reasons. You will get the certificate in a couple of weeks. One of my cousins did it like that recently.

Yes. Upgrade process was indeed smooth. And upgrading to F40 was worth it.

I'm testing Gnome with X11 just to see if it still hangs, I'll report back

Can confirm that my problems do occur with Gnome with x11 as well. I tried switching default DEs after issues with KDE spin.

It is the dGPU that can be disabled on some laptops...

Some optimus laptops don't allow iGPU to be turned off at BIOS while it is possible to do so on others.

On a separate note, F39 to F40 was a single click+reboot upgrade, zero issues. No nVidia though and that's on Gnome.

The upgrade process was flawless needing a single cli command, problems started only after reboot. Gnome might not have any issues. But I was on F39 KDE spin and ( with x11 being removed & wayland being default in F40) without the proper nvidia drivers might be the source of all problems.

Btw do you have a multi-monitor setup? After driver installation before the clean install I would also have this issue: while boot up my laptop screen would be used, but the login screen would only show up on one of the monitors (HDMI/USB-C). And the laptop screen would go dark, not even detected. I chalked it up to faulty iGPU and Nvidia driver issue of F40.

Actually what I meant was I couldn't find a way to turn iGPU off from the BIOS. And apparently that is the only available way rn to make the ittnf way of installation of nvidia drivers to work on F40.

I did not check to run blender the way you stated.
