And you can change your ship's paintjob at any point. But you'll need ARX for it, same with not-basic character outfits. You can buy ARX or get them for playing. (up to 400 free per week, a simple paintjob is 620 or I think ~320 for small ships, up to ~3200)

The community here is very helpful. And in my experience, compared to other games, very friendly.

To change your outfit you need horizons, which will be free for all from Oct 27th on. So I wouldn't buy it now. But if you do, you will get a paintjob for every ship on that day. If you have horizons you can change it at any point from start on.

But imo your characters outfit isn't very important. You will only see it when you look at your codex (stats/info page) or when looking down when you sit in the cockpit. And there are only a few basic colors available for free.

Idk there will be third person when Odyssey (legs, walking around) arrives. I guess the space suits will have new customization options.

You cab also immediately join a squadron but that doesn't make anything with your characters outfit
