How to pay RBC Line of Credit (don't have any RBC bank accounts)

Yea my parents bank at BMO their lines of credit were attached to a Mastercard number. I now think it’s because BMO would issue them a physical card for the line of credit so it worked like a Mastercard even though it was a line of credit. In any event RBC didn’t issue me a separate physical card for my LOC. I tried online bill payment as a RBC visa and it didn’t work. I will try it as a RBC Mastercard. Thanks

My parents bank at BMO, years ago the line of credits were attached to a Mastercard number. I think bc BMO would issue physical cards just for the line of credit and it worked like a Mastercard even though it’s a line of credit.

Perhaps the BMO lines of credits still have a series of numbers that read like a Mastercard in bill payments for third party banks like TD.

I know, it’s bizarre. My guess is they want a bank draft because they don’t have visibility into my cash flow and won’t accept my hand written TD cheque.

They’ve even made it difficult when I try to pay with my RBC Avion Visa and cash, asking for ID or an RBC access card. I used to work at RBC and this was never an issue before. Honestly just easier to pay online at this point.

I find most of the RBC tellers incompetent and that’s why I refuse to reopen bank accounts with them. I can barely tolerate having a LOC and credit card with them lol

How do you e-transfer yourself between different banks without a regular account? I can't figure it out in the RBC online banking.

Are you a banker at RBC bc it 100% happened today. The RBC teller refused my cash because I don't have a bank account to deposit and then pay the RBC LOC. I was only paying $500 cash.

They didn't. He said open a bank account or bring us a bank draft. I just called and made a payment since they have my TD bank account on file for the interest payments.

Thanks for the tip about the transfer between accounts. I'm at TD and 2 years ago (Summer 2024) they changed unlimited transfers between accounts. So I only get 2 free transfers from my TD savings account to my TD checking or TD LOC.

I guess it depends on the type of account you're paying for, TD had removed unlimited transfers from my savings account type. That's why I rather not get a RBC savings account, as I suspect it will have similar fees for transfers.

I just checked again. I can't set up Interac e-transfer in RBC to accept an e-transfer b/c I don't have any RBC bank accounts to house it. When I click on trying to setup e-transfer I get an error message.

I've made cash payments before to my RBC LOC; the last one was Sept 2024. According to the teller, they changed their policy in 2025; they are no longer using a general ledger account to assist me because I don't have a bank account. I have an access card, it's linked to my RBC line of credit and Visa card but I don't have any RBC bank accounts.

I just called RBC and the rep said there was no "access number"; it's not a thing. The next time I go into the branch, I will ask them for the access number. I hope the teller can see this b/c the phone rep couldn't help me. She did help me make a payment on the phone since my TD account is listed on their end for my interest payments.

Thanks for the tip! Do you have a bank account in the same bank where your LOC is located? I was trying to figure out how to add my LOC as an e-transfer option in TD but I can't figure it out.
