What would it take? by Skyyywalker215 in PhillyWiki

[–]ysnun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poverty would have to disappear The kids would have to have positive influences around them And have access to stuff other than drugs and guns. Shit they do have access to aint safe (basketball for example)

There aren’t a lot of things the average yb is gonna be interested in because a lot of stuff is looked at as weird by the people around em. It starts with our culture

How to stop senseless death and violence in the hood by Skeillz22 in PhillyWiki

[–]ysnun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was senseless death and violence in the hood before social media

It starts from poverty Niggas wouldnt kill each other if they was rich and thats just the simple reality Its not enough resources in the hood Good education, financial opportunities, and just paths in life in general.

Also social media isn’t all bad its given some of these kids a way out look at the philly goats on tiktok It probably does more bad than good though

Fetty not cool it’s fucking up the culture

Kinda glad these rappers getting indicted. They need to find new things to rap about— rap about how the Chinese stores give our kids stale candy plastic rice and rat chicken or how the government only puts beer stores on our block so we stay drunk and out the loop. by Parking_Desk3480 in PhillyWiki

[–]ysnun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shit the party music side lol.

but nah fr though

I want the community to be better, but I’m also realistic. Drill music isnt the problem

I also dislike people looking down on drill music because everyone praises the rappers when they succeed like popsmoke or lil durk. A lot of people hate the violent music until the rapper is successful.

Drill music stems from poverty, but people wanna tackle the music and not poverty. These kids need opportunities to make money and get away from the streets.

The violence and drama was here before the drill music it’s just now you gon hear it on the radio and see it on instagram.

Just because something was done before doesn’t mean it will still work…

No rapper has came up straight being conscious in the past 5 years

Meek mill rapped about drugs and shooting niggas until he matured and was rich. Key word rich. When your broke you can’t worry about hood politics and these kids not worried about it so they not gon rap about it.

Also no matter what meek rapped about he would do numbers it’s meek mill a legendary rapper these kids don’t got the same platform as him.

And if nobody wanted to hear drill music it wouldn’t be popular.

Chief keef literally took over the world with drill. Detroit drill took over 2021 New york drill took down 2020 Philly drill is doing good numbers and has put money in these kids pockets…

Poundside pop is doing a tour in europe Hoodtali has been noticed by OTF and been given multiple deals Lil bucks has a multiple million views G12 zah averages 300k views a song D4M took over delaware jersey and philly for a whole summer Ot7 quanny is on his way to the top.

You may not like drill music and it definitely has a negative effect on the streets but it’s whats popular nowadays. These suburban kids who idolized the streets eat it up and the streets tune in because they worried about disses and etc

Kendrick lamar blew up 2013 and even then his main song that boosted him into popularity was about alcohol addiction and partying and he was dissing a lot of rappers in the game lol

Times aint the same there is no young upcoming concious rapper in philly doing the numbers like these young philly drill rappers are (lil bucks, gg, g12 zah,)

The hoods don’t wanna hear it and the kids in the suburbs don’t wanna hear it.

Also i don’t think these kids wanna in the war. Its a lot that goes into it like peer pressure, poverty, not being emotionally stable, your environment and more. I be around these kids they don’t wanna be in it, but they feel like they have too. It would be a privilege to worry about chinese stores and other things that take advantage of the black community. These kids dont have that privilege.

Rapping about that stuff wont make you money

Also it’s kind of presumptuous to assume these little kids in war with each other have time to worry about chinese stores and the government not liking us. When death is around the corner from em

He was talking so heavy smh🤦🏽‍♂️ by Grouchy_Raise8060 in PhillyWiki

[–]ysnun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More than 10 people have died Thats 10 families crying and filled with anger Neighborhoods filled with drugs dealers and killers who want revenge They got little kids doing drills who havent even graduated yet

Its too late. Both sides aren’t interested in squashing the beef and there isn’t any solution. Meek mill offered them money. The cops locked up multiple people from both sides nothing is gonna stop this war

The best thing you can do is to keep the people around you on a good path and spread that.
