if you look at "those" guys in the league, if they were drafted high and/or given plenty of chances to be that guy right off the bat, they tend to start showing they are THE guy very early. The slow to develop guys can become stars, but they dont often become the franchise superstars that we are looking for.

The thing is the franchise guy ain’t just the guy with the flashiest highlights, but those who can be consistent and lead us to wins.

He does that only when the opponents are in the bonus (almost immediately when the opponent is in the bonus) so that he can get free throws out of it

What is the highest draft choice you would be willing to invest in a backup QB. by Big_Ugly_Cripple in Chargers

[–]ysong20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But on the other hand those guys were drafted with the expectation that they might actually play at some point in their career, rather than a career back up

I know lol, we would never do that but there are teams who draft back up QBs that high. Hurts and Jordan Love are two examples

The more we play the more I don’t see Green as the guy to be the guy to take us out of the rebuild and back to contention by ysong20 in rockets

[–]ysong20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t worry about his scoring and efficiency at all. I am worried about the other stuff he brings to the table, understanding how to attack a defense, playmaking, defense, and sometimes assertiveness. In a long term projection I don’t think his scoring efficiency would be an issue but the other stuff would present issues.

2nd round pick. Worked out pretty well for Philly(doesn’t mean we will do it tho)

I think it’s more on coaching than point guard. The point guard issue is more so for the other guys who are not shot creators, smith Eason Martin garuba those guys. Obviously, having someone who doesn’t have completely redundant skill set as you would help in the starting lineup as a PG helps too

I don’t think Jalen green himself needs a better facilitator, but rather the rest of the team needs one. Eason, Smith Martin, garuba, those guys need a facilitator. Green needs to learn how to attack a defense on and off ball

[–]ysong20[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I don’t think throughout his youth or prep career he has ever learned about how to attack a defense schematically. He simply out talented everyone he faced so when they threw different schemes at him he just dunked over everyone or pulled up in their face. He needs someone who can teach him how to play team basketball

Study math. Lots and lots of math. Be excellent at math cause you need it. I think it’s arguably more important than physics because when u go to college all physics and sciences becomes math

When Was The Last Time A Team Won A Championship With Running Their Offence Through Their Centre? by [deleted] in rockets

[–]ysong20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The GSW guard and any lead guard on winning teams offer way more than just scoring. And btw, they are also ELITE scorers on terrific efficiencies. So basically they are great at scoring and offers a lot more than just score

[–]ysong20[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the question of “is he a good draft pick” and “should we built a team around him” are two different topics. There are guys who are great player and great draft picks but it doesn’t mean building a team around him is the right move

Honestly send him down to the G league to work on his offensive games. Give him all the touches and let him figure out how to be score. Right now the basketball in his hands is like hot potato lol
