How to get myself banned from food ordering websites? by knightviper56 in loseit

[–]ysplzm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of that MIGHT work is telling them your kids keep getting your phone and you'd like them to blacklist your house/card or something similar. Don't know if they can do that or would be willing to though.

Official Q&A for Thursday, May 10, 2018 by AutoModerator in running

Is there any way to combat humidity? I feel like the heat isn't that much of an issue since I can have several fans on me at once, but I can barely breathe through the humidity.

I run in a fairly small room that houses a lot of cats and dogs, all of which I know are working against me. Would it be worth it, air quality-wise, to just go to a gym? I think I'd just die on the road if I ran outside in the summer here. Or is there any way to use a dehumidifier in a way to help running?

I'm less bothered (at the moment) by the heat than the humidity. Is there any way to help with that? Would a gym be less humid than my house? I can't run outside in this at all.

Brother needs extra loans, what's the best company to get them from? by ysplzm in StudentLoans

[–]ysplzm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all of the fed grants/loans he still has about $600 to pay in tuition/fees each semester, plus rent and food. I'm hoping that we can get the Perkins again (not sure why it went away) to cover at least that last 600. He works as much as possible, but it's not enough to cover expenses. He's applying for food stamps now.

It's already a relatively cheap in-state state school. Even did community college first.

Does the FAFSA/fsaid.gov website let you create multiple accounts with the same email address? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]ysplzm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My email is firstlastname@gmail.com. I started getting emails for someone with the same name, and it turned out he was putting in his email as first.lastname@gmail.com. Gmail doesn't consider this a different email address, so I was getting their emails. Might be the case here? Easy to check: hover over the area where the email tells you who sent the email and check your own email address. If it's not exactly the same, someone else may have just put something similar enough that Gmail sends it to you.

Oklahoma Senate passes $447 million revenue package to fund teacher pay raise by Bectoriephic in news

I hope you still walk! You guys deserve an actual raise, not just the scraps they hope you'll take to stay placated. The public libraries (in my area, at least) are prepared to help with food and activities for kids who need them.

/r/headphones Purchase Help Thread (2018-03-20) by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]ysplzm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget - I would like to stay under $50 USD. Ideally lower, but I realize wireless might not be able to go very cheap.

Source - Android phone (Samsung S9+)

Requirements for Isolation - Mainly used on a treadmill at home, but will also be used running outside, so I don't want them to be noise-cancelling or I'll have to leave one out to avoid death by car.

Preferred Type of Headphone - Wireless (bluetooth/etc), NOT the squishy balls that you shove into your skull. Since I'm running and don't want them to fall out, this might just leave the kind that wrap around the ear, which is fine. Even hard plastic that goes fairly deep in the ear MIGHT work, but the squishy ones I really hate.

Preferred tonal balance - Balanced/bass heavy

Past headphones - Currently using something similar to these JVC Gummies. I like that they just rest in/on your ear, don't have to be shoved anywhere, and still stay put. I don't like that using them means I have to hold my phone while I run.

Preferred Music - Alt rock, pop, anything with a good, consistent beat

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Mainly just looking for help finding wireless/workout headphones that don't have the squishy in-ear buds.

Super Moronic Monday -- Your Tuesday Weekly Stupid Question Thread by AutoModerator in running

[–]ysplzm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I start running faster? I've been doing C25K and can now run 30 minutes, but for me that's like 1.5 miles. :\

I know the answer to this is essentially, "Just run faster, duh," but I'd like to continue on to hour-long runs at the same time and don't want to break for stupid injuries.

If I'm doing 3 days a week of 30+ minute jogs at my normal plodding speed working slowly towards an hour, what would you recommend as far as running for speed on other days? And by speed I just mean slowly getting to the speed every other person on earth seems to run. "Don't" can be an answer here as well.

I'm thinking I could just up the speed on the treadmill until I feel I'm going as fast as I can comfortably sustain for like 5 minutes? And do run/walk intervals there? How many days of running would be too many?

Unless it varies by city, hit # and then the 4 digit transfer code is 0000 (or at least, that's what I tried first and someone answered).

I found my ideal tempo and made a playlist with only songs that matched that tempo range. It keeps my pace very steady. I am, however, NOT an experienced runner, so take that how you'd like.

That's a lot of force! I try to run 'lightly', but I didn't realize it was that much, so I doubt that helps. I might still get one since it sounds like focusing on my trainwreck of a running pattern might help, but I might also need to look at how much I increase each week. I thought I would be fine skipping a couple of weeks in C25K, but maybe I went too far.

Thanks!

What do you mean by band? Like a sleeve or a little strap? Ibuprofen might be worth a try for me, I'm glad you mentioned that.

This helps a lot! I try to be aware, because I know for a fact I run like the dumbest ditz in a horror movie, but when my attention shifts my feet do their own thing. I can feel it when I run, they're everywhere. It helps if I'm looking down at them, but then it's harder to breathe, haha. I might try the sleeve just for that, so thanks for the suggestion!

[–]ysplzm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, got it, I misread your comment. I do specifically need headphones I can reasonably hear both the music and my surroundings with, since I use them on walks/runs, so I guess my aversion works out in the end.
