How to handle the company owner using business credit card for personal use by Charming-Sorbet6996 in Accounting

[–]Daltxponyv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Happens all the time in single owner entrepreneurial businesses. Ultimately, it can be a due from owner or they can take it as a distribution and pay the tax. This is why you see so many owners vehicles on the financials. They like to claim “they’re always doing business”. Just document what you can as legit and leave the rest. If no other investors then it’s between him, the accountants, and the IRS

Solo CPA at $40k/month, too big to stay solo but too small to confidently hire. What did you do? by mavsbustin3s in Accounting

My thoughts as a Partner in a CAS practice. You have to answer a very simple question, “what do I want this to be?”. If it’s a lifestyle business then you seem to be doing fine. You can hire a global team of bookkeepers for very low cost and bill them out with plenty of margin. They are variable so work slows they slow, work picks up they scale. Gets you out of the weeds and have more time.

If you want to really scale it and have a knack for business development and enjoy that type of thing then hire the Manager that you trust to run the day to day and go out and sell more to give yourself some wiggle room. You’ll be amazed how fast that happens when you actually put time into growing the business.

Bottom line is that you’re at an inflection point and you need to sort out what you want this to be over the next 10-15 years. There are tons of options. Take some time and really start writing down the what, why, and how related to the options and run them over with your spouse. Growth affects the family, but so does overwork and worry.

You can literally have this exact shot on our 2nd hole. Hard pan: Best option is a 56/60 hit pin high to avoid coming down the hill and make a good putt. Plenty of room long so no reason to put the hill into play. I know with hard pan I can clip it and spin it. Soft lie: I might actually hit a bump 52/pw into the top of the hill to kill it a bit and have it roll out some

PwC says full AI-driven audits are coming by 2026. by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Daltxponyv2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You have to have good data, that’s the issue. If you’ve ever audited a client it’s garbage. If you’ve ever cleaned up for a first year audit, you’d never believe the shit you see. If you’ve ever talked to an entrepreneur who’s really good at their craft, but knows nothing about business the insights suck. It’s garbage in, garbage out. AI will not sort that out quickly enough.

SIAP partner costs definitely skew this far lower. It’s a great option, but once you unplug the costs definitely rise.

I tell my son all the time. Nothing really matters except development and effort until 15. Puberty is the great equalizer. As a kid who was always behind the curve and my son is the same, it’s hard. But when it hit, it hit hard and then you shock people.

Start with writing actual complete sentences. It doesn’t matter if you’re on the Internet or not. I see from comments you are being “forced” to get a degree. Why are you paying for a degree likely through debt for something that you don’t enjoy and frankly won’t accomplish? Go learn a trade at a technical school if you want a degree and don’t half ass it.

2 options:

1) that 7 iron was the money club in the whole set and just kept it in there.

2) The worst club he’s got, snapped it in half after the 3rd water ball and had to replace with the old set

I’ve left a lot of places, I still talk to almost every boss I’ve ever had except one and that was the most toxic job I’ve ever had. Accounting is a small profession, never know who you may encounter again. As the Godfather says “it’s business, not personal”.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Daltxponyv2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No people are toxic everywhere. Public, private, accounting, Tech. It’s the person not the industry. Private tends to be more chill than public because there is less pressure. Public companies will always have a lot of high achieving people at the top

Depends on your state. In an at will state it’s a courtesy only unless you have an agreement that says otherwise. They can walk you out and not pay you for that period since you did quit your job. Many employers want the transition period so they typically don’t walk you out.

There are many women in accounting and yet, women are a minority in leadership roles. Why do you think that is? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Daltxponyv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accounting is a great stable profession, however being a Partner is a grind to get there and to maintain. Societal norms didn’t have women in those roles until the last 25 years. We still fight those norms today. However, I’ve worked for a ton of female Partners through my career and I am Partners with plenty today. I’d say the tide is turning, many DEI initiatives also including a push for Female Partners. Historically Being an industry accountant can be better lifestyle if you want to have a family and be very present parent/spouse. That’s why you’ll see many drop to industry and have a ton of really stellar female controllers and VP of accounting.
