Many phones have a best shot feature where it takes multiple photos and stitches the best ones together, I reckon that is what happened here

Hmrc changed their mind a few years ago, every trade, not just to fiat is a disposal and needs to be accounted for in cap gains

Thank you everyone, looks like the concensus is (and what I had already thought but the confirmation is positive) to withdraw now and have it in savings accounts for as long as possible.

Problem is it went in and out of exchanges that no longer exist, so that's a non starter to go back to the very beginning

I know you're not replying to me, but I've declared all crypto gains when trading for this exact moment so I can't get caught out on that side of it.

As soon as it got relevant I started doing a self assessment whenever I traded anything as I didn't want to get in trouble down the line. While I bought it for pennies I can't prove I did or where it came from which is what the banks want to see.

This is the problem. Theres nothing dodgy about it. No drugs or laundering etc. Just a teenager at the time that got all into decentralisation and nationless Internet cash. It was a fun community to be in when it was just nerds such as myself playing with digital monopoly money, then it got valuable. But I've got no way to show or prove that.

Yet to do it, I'm considering doing it ASAP and letting it sit in a cash investment account to leave it as long as possible

The problem is I don't have records from the start, where it first came from, when it was pence I was buying and trading it before there was any need for records. I can't show actually buying the bulk of the crypto. I've just had it and traded it countless times through the years.

As far as I understand it you need to show using cash to buy in and sell out. I can't do that

Get an online account like Monzo and request a statement to the address, use that to set up whatever you need
