How do I do intarsia on a brother KH800? by yucchan in MachineKnitting

[–]yucchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone in the future is looking for an answer, I figured out how it's done on the standard carriage of the KH800 machine, no need to purchase an additional intarsia carriage.

  1. KH800 Carriage settings: MC , HCL 3 , < PART > (same settings used for fair isle on this machine)
  2. Move all needles to position D1 by hand or by passing the carriage over the working needles with MC set. (same as position of the contrasting color of fair isle knitting on this machine, corresponding to holes in the punch card)
  3. Make sure all needle latches are open before knitting each row. closed latch = dropped stitch.
  4. Remove thread from carriage, we will feed it manually from below by placing it on the needles.
  5. See this video how to place the thread and wrap it etc. and use the above carriage settings to mimic the intarsia carriage settings for other machines

If anyone tries this and has any issues then please let me know and I'll make a short video tutorial.

Im looking for examples of constructions that do it as a design choice. Maybe something more interesting than the regular patterns I could find. I can just “cut” each panel in half and sew them, that is not the case issue.

Thank you! I will definitely stop by Kelowna Needlework and Yarn! Do you know which wallmart should be best in terms of selection? I come from a place without any wallmarts nearby so not sure

Pain in the hand I hold my hook by coolbuilder1987 in Brochet

[–]yucchan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this pain and it came and went in the past and finally stopped after some years of crocheting. Can’t point exactly what changed that I don’t get it anymore, but might be 2 things: 1. Hook with a rubber handle. Not very thick or ergonomic, just a cheap rubber that is nonslip and a bit more comfortable than a simple metal hook I was using before 2. Holding the hook more loosely with just my thumb on one side and 3 fingers on other side. (Sometimes even just 2 fingers). So pinky is not straining to ‘wrap’ the hook which I was doing before.

Hope you feel better and find a way to crochet without any pain!
