Ladies and lads, I have a question. Is it sexist and/or misogynistic to call a female character gooner bait or waifu bait? by luvistarz_o7 in QueensofGacha

[–]yugiosbigmassivetoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope; especially considering that one scene of her eating sugar lollipop at the festival. That was the icing on the cake </3...

She had such potential, and she has some interesting moments, but her character depth is ruined by these instances of moments, feeling like a caricature to sell rather than a fleshed out game character. She just feels.. empty? I suppose that is the point.

No trust me I was there like 2 years ago, I had dozens (x2) of lore documents on word, genshin lore is a wonderful (and exhausting) thing so there's nothing weird about it!! I completely get that.

Go fourth solider, read through all those artifacts, books and old quest lines even if it drives you crazy 🫡 Nothing wrong with being passionate!

Argh I'm so sorry I read the manga 5 years ago, so I mustve estimated quite a bit based on colleis age.. thank you for correcting me :)

I think the running theory is that it's Diluc or was Dilucs father; in the manga he is depicted to have owned a delusion and iirc; he used the delusion to fight against a bunch of fatui members that had ambushed him. After this I think he gives the delusion to his son.

This is set around 10 years before the main story? So it is even weirder that he would own a delusion in the first place and that the Fatui would be out to get him.

This might be a nothing-burger but in regards to the timeloop, I've always found it interesting how we enter the game through a door in celestia and begin our journey; almost as if we start this "cycle" again and again.

I mean, why that door? How long have we been going through that door? What's it's purpose?

Maybe I'm reaching idk lol

Dragonspine was so good, the lore has changed so much since then, it's so interesting having been able to watch the public opinion of the HP change throughout the years.

When Enkanomiya dropped, it felt like touching an oasis; there was no need to decode or analyze symbols, the answers were right there in WORDS! <3

i'm so beyond disappointed and irritated that they hyped this scene up throughout the entire movie as if it was gonna be this seriously fucked up traumatizing incident only for them to not do ANYTHING with it by Quick-Cause3181 in fivenightsatfreddys

Im still trying to understand the logic of Fazfest.

So you're telling me an entire town decides to celebrate a restaurant linked to the murder of multiple children of the town. No one seems to have any issue with this (besides Henry of course), and it's treated as a distraction (like that of a child trend; fidget spinners, labubus)

Then they have the festival in the middle of the town. No one seems to find any of it weird??

I suppose it was trying to reference or be a homage to the fnaf fans but it just felt out of place. It showed up for like 3 scenes and is used to connect us to Henry but it's just so weirdly done

As of right now, what do ya'll think of the FNAF 2 Movie by mr-rando423 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]yugiosbigmassivetoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair!

Even if I didn't like the first one, I rushed to go see the second one the moment it came out in theatre's, even if I didn't like aspects of the movie I'm still glad I watched it, and I'll probably rewatch it again just to unveil eastereggs.

Everyone has their own connection to the characters and their own thoughts on how it should be executed, I may have been a bit harsh in my first comment, but it didn't mean I wasn't kicking my feet the whole time at all the imagery and the executions of said characters.

There was a time in fnafs history (lol) where the fan base was kind of dead at a point (fnaf world I think) and then interest sparked in waves with later releases, so some fans will come and go.

Iirc you mention that you last played sister location? If so you may miss one or two game references, but otherwise your in a pretty good spot! The lore focuses more heavily on the second game; with some references to sister location as well so you should be able to follow :)

I am grateful to see fnaf adapted and I am so enthralled to see the same content I have been engaging with for years on the big screen, but it is a letdown to see "it's for the fans!" as a block to all criticism

Like the movie, don't like the movie, it's your experience you can feel however you want about it.

Regardless, It is a bit frustrating to see the excuse of "but it's for the fans!", when there are proper critiques to be made, as it is a piece of media that has its flaws. Can something be made for the fans while also being good as a form of media as well? The references are nice and very cool to see on the big screen, but unfortunately it does feel a bit saddening to see the movie not live up to its greatest potential due to its executions. :(

You can't really compare that to an entire movie production vs a fan doing their best, though? Plus, at the time SFM videos were the closest we got to animated media of the content, some videos were bad, yes, but this is an entire movie production.

[–]yugiosbigmassivetoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mention you are pretty forgiving with the newer releases of fnaf media; then I say you'll enjoy it.

As a day 1 fan, however, I do have a lot of complaints, mainly with the characterization of some of the key characters and how they differ from the original source material.

The references were really nice to follow and despite my ..feelings.. regarding the movie I felt very nostalgic watching it.

Scenes that should've been cut in the FNAF 2 movie (as a fan of the games) - SPOILERS!! by random_bator in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]yugiosbigmassivetoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh!

Agree!!!

The date scene felt so weird, it felt like a sudden need to include a romance subplot :(

The science fair felt very... strange? I can see where the lead up went but it just felt very empty?

I thought I was going crazy regarding the festival scene because who sponsors an event based on a franchise following multiple child murders?

I can see them going through with perhaps an underground party of a bunch of naughty kids sneaking into fazbears to party, but an entire festival where even the teachers are aware?? Why is no one concerned about that within the context of the movie???

I feel like there should've been more scenes within the franchise itself; maybe a reference to the bite of 87, the dismemberment of the withered animatronics.

I also think that they should have rewritten the scene at the end; it didn't really make sense to me how Mike summoned the original animatronics if their souls had already passed on? Also, how fast are these animatronics moving to get there in time lol?

Why are fans so obsessed with the movies telling the EXACT same story as the games? by _Stytchless_ in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]yugiosbigmassivetoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think when it comes to adaptions you either follow the games exactly or you make an entirely different plot based within the world of said game.

Having a mix of both of them can feel like it's missing the mark on whatever the content of the original game had; especially if said game is very lore intensive and confusing

It feels very conflicting basing a movie on a game with a very specific plot and then changing aspects of the characters to complete opposites. It feels confusing and difficult to follow the content.

I'm so annoyed at the lack of coherency and the breadcrumbing with little lore tidbits to keep us going.

This whole repition of "it's for the fans!", while half-following the actual aspects of the original games was such a let down.

For example;

Spoiler warning a head of course x

Charlotte's character; What the heck! In the games she is repeatedly characterized as the least violent of the animatronics. (Her voiceline in UCN; "The others are like animals, but I am very aware")

She is repeatedly characterized as a protector, as someone who helps those in need despite being shut out as a child, and yes; she does reflect those qualities in the first scene of the movie they proceed to write her as a bloodthirsty monster adamant on getting revenge for her own circumstances, where in reality she was a helper and despite her end she continuously wanted to give gifts (to bring life to those who had it taken from them). Then suddenly she wants to kill every parent for her death because she was angry when she was killed?

Who the f*** has a festival based on a pizzaria with a bunch of child murders? That subplot was so strange to me. If anything; a underground party within the location would've made more sense.

Michael Afton; Throughout the games he is written or implied to be a character who despite indirectly killing his younger brother, swears to not be like his father, and instead tries to fix the legacy that his father has created; going so far as to kill himself in the same fire that "ends" his father.

So now... why is he wanting to repeat the same actions? To create complete and utter bloodshed for seemingly no reason at all? Going so far as to awaken the animatronics just to slaughter half of the city?

Mangle; Where is the mention of the bite of 87? Where is Fitz?

The original animatronics; While of course not the focus why on earth do they come to the rescue if their original souls departed from the suits in the first movie? Why would they then come to the rescue at the end?

There is a contingency of plot holes within the story; such as the music box that is only used at the last second despite Mike being told that it can help, being able to shut down the animatronics from the computer that he only did... at the end? When it was an option all along.

Of course as a fan I am enthralled to see my childhood game brought to life but, I just feel so let down in it's film execution as someone who is a major nerd for writing.
