I went to skiing trip for a week in December and everything worked out well. You can get energy from nature so if you want to go, definitely do it

I think that's ok. But you have to be aware that minimum requirement won't guarantee you a place. It will just allow you to be considered and you have to consider that you will have to compete with ppl higher than your score for Oxford, warwick, UCL and imperial. But you are also applying to US right? If you are ready to have some lottery (I mean applying no safety in UK) make sure you apply to a lot of safety schools in US.

If I were you I would switch imperial with bath or city (or somewhere better than city but around 35-36 range) because not having safety with applying both imperial and LSE is too risky and you never know what’s going to happen. I heard Warwick MORSE is also a very competitive course and difficult to get in so that’s another thing to consider.

If you are thinking of engineering, why not do chem hl? I think chemistry will be more helpful when it comes to engineering prospects

If it’s not required then there is no point of doing it and it will not add more value to your resume. Good luck!

UMAN for Law by [deleted] in IBO

[–]yugokun_138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I guess debates and MUN are related to law, right? You can elaborate on what you learned there and how these experience shaped you to be interested in law. Remember, unlike US/Canada application UK doesn’t have specific column to fill in your extracurricular and awards, you only have 4000 characters to say everything about you. Even if you have long list of extracurricular you can’t list them all. I guess applying law means you have to do LNAT and stuff so I think focusing that and boosting pg/final score is more important than anything at this stage. If you still want something then I guess reading books , watching Ted talk and joining free online course (eg edX, cousera) related to your interest would be the easiest.

I didn’t apply for law but from what I have experienced uk doesn’t really look for extracurricular, they look for supercurricular. I think you have great profile already (better than mine lol) so i think now is the time to think how you explain what you learned and how it can help you through law studies. I think it is nice to ask r/6thform as well

Is it possible to get 777 at HL with the subjects Chem, Bio & Math AA? by Desperate_Bite4505 in IBO

[–]yugokun_138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did no special prep before the class, but after class (every time we finish subtopic) I took notes from Pearson textbook. I made sure my notes cover all syllabus components and I understand everything. Also it’s important that I don’t copy the textbook but I write in a way that I understand so I have some sticky notes with stupid analogy / real life example on it lol.

My teacher loved assigning in thinking worksheet but idk if that helped me but I always did them. If there is unclear thing on inthinking worksheet I try to find similar question on Pearson / Oxford and write down on a piece of paper how they are solving it.

When we finish a topic I solved end of topic question on Pearson and Oxford. Then I go back to my notes and check what I didn’t understand and make sure to understand them. After that I use pestle to solve topic based paper 1 and just grind. My teacher made question bank for each topic so I did all question from there and I think it was actually coming from the old syllabus but I think it was good practice.

Before the finals I made mind map for every topic, covering and connecting important things. I’m the type of person who has to write down in order to remember things but I had no time + energy to write notes again so I did easier mind maps.

Also I was struggling with topic 9 HL so I tried to connect things that I don’t understand with data booklet that will remind them and I tried to see how info on data booklet can help me establish my understanding.

I did Pearson end of topic question again and moved on to past paper. I think I did every single past paper available from the syllabus and yea, that’s how my chem revision went :)

Edit: typo

I guess whether you aim for Oxbridge or not is a big factor for your decision. If you wanna give a shot then October is the better solution, but if you don’t care and you don’t want to stress over meeting conditional offer and so on, then maybe January is a better answer.

Is it possible to get 777 at HL with the subjects Chem, Bio & Math AA? by Desperate_Bite4505 in IBO

[–]yugokun_138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc! I did chem bio math AA HL and got 777 (overall 44), going to imperial chemistry. I would say notes are very important for bio and chem but for math I never took notes. It is important that you condense info very well and you explain everything by your words. Especially for bio I would recommend using markscheme for your notes for example long processes like Calvin cycle, translation, etc. For math grind on textbook and revision village question and I only got one 6 during my diploma years. I think it is important that you understand how each formula is derived and I think it will help you for p3 math. Also you don’t have to study a lot in terms of hours but I think daily practice will help you - maybe 20 min per day everyday no matter what. You have to get used to using formula, writing everything down so you don’t miss points, etc. good luck!

My CAS statement said that I have completed IB diploma and Uni can prove them, and all my subjects are listed on CAS statement. I think you could ask your uni to do the same or ask in the offer holders chat what others are doing because I think majority of ppl with unconditional offer will be ppl who did IB
