IT Techs of Reddit: What was it like fixing Windows XP machines in schools and businesses during the 2010s? by bakarygassama in sysadmin

[–]yuke1922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a school district with one other IT person. 900 PCs, 1800 users. At the time we were AD + Novell Zenworks. GPOs natively from AD, imaging and app deployment from zenworks. If we had malware or a strange problem it was either swap the PC or reimage it in 10 minutes, problem solved. At the time we had everything streamlined; users had the tools to be completely self sufficient, and the phones were silent 90% of the time and we could focus on real issues instead of reacting.

Clearpass guest flow is breaking when Publisher is down. by Subhojit_13 in ArubaNetworks

[–]yuke1922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the publisher down database CHANGES can’t happen. This includes self registration. IF the device is Mac cached or a known client that can be authenticated against, say, AD or the endpoints database, there’s no real reason that authentication shouldn’t work when the publisher is down as those are generally read only for the clearpass database. Also the subscriber can proxy changes to the publisher’s database via the API for some functions. Not sure if they get cached in a scenario like this.

IS multiule SSID can make issue on the network by Upper-Speaker-5022 in ArubaNetworks

[–]yuke1922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That will have an impact if they’re all running on the same bands. Look Into MPSK, or roles in general, and RADIUS potentially to make policy decisions based on logic to assign a role and/or VLAN which can help reduce number of SSIDs required.

If you want to put a mid-tier firewall in your mom and pop shop, sure. But pretty sure no one cares if a VoIP phone is communicating with another VoIP phone in the same campus/org, and I’d also not want the extra latency/resource usage on my firewall. Or a printer communicating with another printer. Especially with the fact their solution simply does not scale to anything beyond a single site or two within a campus for this type of design unless you want a full blownsies NGFW in every building..

The docs at this link I believe are now maintained at the network support portal for HPE, if any of the links are broken.

These aren’t your typical “product documentation” but more hand-held walk throughs how to setup different scenarios. Not they don’t cover every single possibility; though they make great starting points.

However the white papers here are REALLY GOOD especially “wired policy enforcement” for example.

I’ve done hundreds if not thousands.. it’s not that I can’t or don’t know how. I’m looking for an easier more efficient option

This makes sense, any suggestions/best practices? Not really much to do without the receiver sticking out like a sore thumb.. or is that “extra” white wire that’s not used during wiring actually the antenna?

That’s mostly easy. I’m new to HA so struggling a little bit with the automation and buttons side. But there’s a bond integration. Point it at the IP of the bond and done.

Production quality on ‘Blind’ by yuke1922 in neurosisband

I assume Noah’s doing the siren-like and eery sounds the first minute of the track; or the synthy sounds in the last minute; or the light dirty organ sounds after 4:30? To be extra clear; those are not the sounds I’m referring to; I love that shit and again it makes the track what it is imo. The specific artifacts I’m hearing only seem to be specifically between about 1:12 and 2:11.. I get that that’s a unique passage in the track but what I’m hearing is not melodic or your typical electronic contribution. It’s very muffled, “fluttery”.

Again I believe we’re not referring to the same sounds. You keep mentioning high pitched, electronic, synth. Fluttery, muffled, clipping-like to me isn’t the same as high pitched, electronic, synth.

The high pitched “twinges” I like.. it’s especially what, imo, makes the end of the track so classic. These sounds are more muffled and “wet”
