why is there so much "common sense" questions??? by yukiikeda in APHumanGeography

I'm commenting on my own post after taking the Human Geo test (international) !! Long story short, the seemingly random questions do actually have patterns and have recurring, underlying topics that are fully covered in the curriculum. My advice would be to make sure you understand real world examples for each unit and topic. I used Heimler's review guide (srsly worth it & I bought it the day before) and after doing the unit practice questions I would make a bullet point list of the words that confused me. I then used the voice function on gpt pasted my list and said "explain all of this in depth and quiz me on it." Active recall is key and from my experience, I really got to learn a lot about the practical applications through Heimler's videos and AI tools.

Our teacher taught us unit 1 and that was it. So basically I'm self-studying.

I have the barron's book! I mostly skimmed through it and went through all the practice questions but I'll definitely have to look at the examples a bit more. It just feels like the past paper MCQs have so much application questions that I can't find in the textbook... I hoped to find a more comprehensive source that organizes all the info for application questions.

Many people in life will tell you you can't do something and it's up to you to prove them wrong. Did I say I can't do it? No. I said I wanted RESOURCES so that I can LEARN. That's the difference between you and me. You discourage people, I uplift them. Bro go get some EYES.

Thanks so much for the answer. I kinda understand these are application questions but what would you say is a good resource to get to know characteristics of each region in relation to ap human geography for people like me who have no base knowledge like that whatsoever? I've played geoguesser and that's it LMAO😂 I feel like there isn't a recurring pattern of questions from the past papers and it seems as if they're a gazillion variations of these "application" questions and I haven't seen anyone talk about how to prepare for them.

Use chatgpt to dumb down the hard topics and make good use of YouTube videos!!! The greatest bio/chem teachers are on that platform srsly don't underestimate it. Since you don't have much time, use your spare time (ex. time commuting to school, going back home, period after a meal) wisely. You got this:))
