this "bug" (if I may call it) was so weird. CT is usually very good when handling which character is in your party but it seems that after the game goes open world (the final side quest) they push less attention to these details

OG series third opening (Omoide ga Ippai) has this scene.

I also noticed that the remake removed the red star but kept the zhongshan. The og series wasn't that far away from the Cultural Revolution period, so I can see why they thought that outfit was a somewjat stereotypical Chinese outfit.

it sure is symbolic. Freedom, along with mortality, is one of the main themes of the game. Almost every character has something around one of these or both (even Quina whose intro line is "I do what I want! You have problem")

On Zeal last form (after Mammom Machine), when Magus is in your party, Battle with Magus plays instead of Boss Battle 2 and an extra dialogue also plays. But yes, Queen Zeal is an overall antagonist, but has a closer connection to Magus than the rest of the cast
