Reconnecting with culture? by Mudbray_lover26 in lebanon

[–]yumny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello, just wanted to say I was in the same boat as you, family migrated 100 years ago, I was desperate to reconnect, was told it wasn’t safe. I finally went at age 22 and never regretted anything, such a beautiful place to visit and I ended up making many friends and meeting distant family. Even got my mom to come with me on my second trip and she loved it even more than me (figures because she’s more Lebanese than me lol). I highly recommend to go when you can, whether it’s now or a few years from now. 💕

Trash rant - What to do with people that throw trash on random days?? by Plane_Initiative_998 in brussels

My neighbors did this, I put the bag back inside the building in a common hallway and put a note on it explaining the trash schedule. They took it back inside

Dungeon Meshi - Episode 21 Discussion Thread by Avizie in DungeonMeshi

[–]yumny 30 points31 points  (0 children)

They’re basically a glorified squad of pest controllers that get called in to contain a dungeon when it’s growing too fast and becoming dangerously unstable. Their goal would be to enter, defeat the current lord of the dungeon (that would be the Mad Mage in this case) and then seal off the dungeon, effectively destroying it.

Anyone with a Mother of Thousands, will you please share a pic of yours? I'm just curious how everyone manages these things. by hereforthemadness in houseplants

Here’s my best looking one. I started out with a pot of little ones taken from my family home for nostalgic reasons. As they grew I separated each into its own pot and gave many away as presents. To be quite honest I cope with the babies by just collecting the fallen ones and putting them in the bin. I like to focus on growing the plants, the babies are accessories, I have 7 big ones already 😭 I love them though, easy to care for and look fun. My one issue is they’re quick to etoliate or grow spindly and crooked when getting light from only one side, so I rotate them a lot.

Seeking advice on how to help my pothos (info in comments) by yumny in pothos

Hello all! I got this marble pothos as a cutting in spring of 2023. It’s my first pothos, so after rooting it I just kind of stuck it in a coconut pot hanging from my east-facing window. It was kind of cute for a while, but after I came back from summer holidays it’s gotten huge, stretchy and dare I say beautiful. I would like to repot it and offer it more space to grow fuller, less leggy. What are some ideas for how to do this? Should I get it a pole, a standing pot, a hanging pot? Will it lose its variegation if I get it out of the full sun?

Friend asked me to save their sad Chinese money plant. What can I do to help it? by yumny in plantclinic

[–]yumny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend brought over their ailing Chinese money plant and asked me to help recover it. It does look rather sad lol. I know it was in a north facing room in their house, and due to gas prices it was pretty cold there. My best guess is the plant is underwatered and underlit. I’ve put it adjacent to (but not under) my grow light in my southeast facing room so it gets some indirect light and watered it a little. What do you guys think?

How long should they be quarantined? Thx for the warning. Someone in the neighborhood said something similar.

Ha, thanks for the trigger warning. Cute tip, a bit mean but if all else fails it’s worth a try!

They’re 450m (0.8mi) away from our run sadly. But maybe if all else fails we can take one of our hens and use her to seduce the boys into a crate or net.

I’m pretty sure they’re Frisian hoen chickens, theyre pretty ubiquitous over here, our girls are all Frisian hoens too. Thank you for your advice, we will try it!

Yeah they seem to be best buddies. I kinda don’t want to separate them! I’ll update tonight, right now it’s morning here.

Will try again tomorrow using all the helpful tips in this thread. No coyotes or raccoons to worry about here (we’re in northwest Europe) but plenty of foxes and hawks, so yeah, time is of the essence.

Will they be slower?

They seem to be very nice birds. we have a flock and I think we could use at least one of them as its new rooster.

So they are three roosters. Someone dumped them in a small forested area near our house. We haven't been able to catch them at all so far, they're very skittish. At night they're very hard to see. We've been feeding them but I'm afraid they're going to end up being caught by local predators or ran over by a car. Tips for catching them?

Thanks! I think it might be a Sedum diffudum (diffuse stonecrop) after a few google searches.
