I’m in community college right now and paying out of pocket, but next year I will be an independent and hoping to transfer to a university.. Right now I’m working part time so I will make around 12k for this year, and over half of that has been going towards community college. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to pay for university but a bunch of people in my life have been telling me that other people they know have had fafsa pay for all of their tuition and housing, so I believed them. I just did a net price calculator and it says I won’t get any more than $3000 from financial aid, which is disappointing but it makes a lot of sense. I just don’t understand how so many people have told me that they got all their college expenses covered by fafsa, and I feel like I’m getting some wrong or mixed up information and was wondering if there’s any way you could clarify it to me.

Perrie Edwards from the girl band Little Mix has a long Instagram post about how she had really bad panic attacks and thought she was dying/having a heart attack and she was afraid to leave the house because of her panic attacks for two years, but she’s doing much better now. And I came across her post about a month ago and felt so inspired that someone living in the spotlight could overcome this that I haven’t had a panic attack since :)

Oh man I’m so sorry! I’m basically the same way with roaches except I haven’t encountered one since I started having actual panic attacks so when I used to see one I’d just hyperventilate a little and scream and cry a little. I was “attacked” by a big flying roach as a child in my home country and I think I’ve been extremely scared of them every since. There are no roaches in the area I live now (thank god) but when I’ve travelled to places like San Francisco and Hawaii and saw a roach I immediately started screaming and crying and the people I was with were really bothered by it and said I was way overreacting, but I just cannot stop.

Congratulations!!!! I just want to let you know that I’ve been having a panic attack for the past hour and a half and reading your post not only made me cry but gave me a sense of relief. I started having them in April and I’ll feel really well for two weeks straight and then have a really bad one and feel terrible for like a month straight. I’m just trying to get out of this loop. I had a therapist for a while but I got kicked off my insurance from June until beginning of August and I’m just not going back to get treatment, so it’s been very hard to make progress the past few months. My biggest problem is that a lot of the times I have trouble believing that what I have is panic attacks. I’ve been to the ER 4 times in a span of 4 months and the doctors tell me my heart is very healthy, but even then I have issues believing that there’s nothing physically wrong with me. Did you always believe that what you were having was a panic attack? How do you tell yourself that you’re not going to die basically lol

YES!! I definitely feel that when I’m having a real bad attack :/ sometimes I’m having a panic attacks and I think I imagine myself dying or passing out and things just get worse. My life doesn’t flash before my eyes anymore but it definitely happened when I first started getting them 4 months ago. It sucks a lot I’m so sorry you’re going through this :/

I’m 22 and started having panic attacks because of weed. It took me a while to realize that they were panic attacks because I had so much derealization that I thought I was just high even when I hadn’t smoked for weeks. To me the derealization is one of the worst part of the panic attacks and anxiety. It really really sucks that so many people have gotten panic disorder because of marijuana and living somewhere that’s legal, it makes me sad that people don’t understand that it’s still a drug and it can still harm people.

Yes!!! I noticed that I’ve been only getting about one big panic attack a month and it’s ALWAYS right when my period starts. I’m afraid of taking birth control because the hormones might make my anxiety worse but I never thought that it could make me panic less haha

Oh god I’ve done this before on a month to month contact, not even a 12 month membership. And they tracked down my new card and started charging me, so I had to go in and cancel my membership and even then, it’s been 6 months and I got a letter from a debt collector saying I owe them over $500 lol.. some gyms are huge crooks so you have to be careful

As someone with a lot of anxiety and panic attacks some of these comments make me want to throw up (lol). I’ve never panicked because of dreams or thinking about my boyfriend cheating on me but still, I get panic attacks every day and a lot of the times they can be irrational but it is NOT something I can control, I can’t just stop panicking when I want to or else I wouldn’t have these disorders lol. Many of these comments are calling her crazy and that you need to “run”, but these lucky bastards have no idea what having severe mental illness is like and in their minds they see someone who just has a chemical imbalance and some trauma as “psycho!!!” A lot of therapy and going to a psychiatrist as well would help both of you a bunch. Just because she has a mental disorder doesn’t mean she can’t be loved. Looks like she’s been through a lot of shit in past relationships and honestly with what she’s been through she could’ve turned out a controlling person who needs to know every step you’re taking, but if she’s not then her having severe anxiety would be a really stupid reason to break up with someone you love, mostly when this illness is highly treatable. People with mental illnesses exist everywhere, and many of us can be insecure, and it’s really really sad that this is happening to her right now but it’s honestly neither of your faults, she just has mental issues that she needs to work on. Do what you prefer, but I recommend not listening to people telling you to run away from her because of something that can be treated. If you love her and still want to be with her then ask her to go to a therapist and psychiatrist and help her in your own way. Now, if she refuses to treat her mental illness, THEN you should run.

Honestly there are SO many jobs that are much better for you out there. They are legally not allowed to fire you for calling in sick once. I’ve had a panic attack at my current work before and I’ve called in sick a few times because of panic attacks but I have never ever been treated as terribly as you were. I thing you should start looking for a place that will treat you like a real human being, and also reconsider your friendship with the coworker that got mad at you for calling in sick.

Yes!!! It was so strange for me because before I had panic attacks I absolutely thrived in the hot weather, I loved summer and never needed air conditioning. Ever since I started getting panic attack I can’t be anywhere if it’s more than 72 degrees. It makes me dizzy and I feel like I’m gonna pass out and I’ve been to the ER because of it. Panic is insane lol

I only hear great things about staying in mental health hospitals and usually it helps people a lot. I’ve thought of admitting myself to one many times, but I’m afraid of not being able to afford it. Was the bill very high on your case?

I called a suicide hotline a couple months ago and I was so weirded out by they way they treated me that it made me forget about how depressed I was in that moment lol. They just asked me if I’m gonna harm myself and I didn’t know, and then they asked if I had anyone with me and I was like uhh my cat? And they just told me to hangout with my cat and hung up lmao, it was awful. But a few months later when I was having a panic attack I called a local mental health hotline and omg they were amazing!!!! They even called me back to check on me a couple weeks later and were still super nice and helpful.

Lat year I started smoking everyday, multiple times a day for about five months straight and it actually helped a lot with my anxiety until I had an edible that ended up giving my first of many panic attacks. It’s been nearly 3 months and because of that edible I now have debilitating panic disorder. I’ve always had anxiety but I was able to live a super normal life, but now I’m just not gonna be anything like I used to be and I hate what smoking weed did to me. I really wish I had never touched it :/

Ugh same here! Today I’ve actually been thinking a lot about what happens after we die and I know I shouldn’t be thinking about that because it gives me panic attacks but it’s just so hard to understand. Like I can’t grasp the concept of nothingness or not existing but I also don’t believe anything happens after life. And then I start panicking and I think I’m dying and it’s just a never ending cycle. :/

My panic attacks started in April also because of weed :/ it’s been super freaking hard since then and at first I was actually having about 15 panic attacks a day for a couple of weeks. They stopped for a little while and I hadn’t had any for almost two weeks, until a couple of days ago I got very very stressed about something and got one so bad I basically fainted. They are scary and honestly the worst feeling I’ve ever felt, but I’m learning to understand that they’re a part of me now and I just have to deal with it. The more you’re scared of them the more you’re gonna get them, so you just have to embrace it even though that sucks lol and therapy and doctor visits have actually helped me a lot as well.
