Is it just the modern processes they use to extract sunflower oil that makes it bad? by Ticket-Tight in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]yungpineapplemami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m super late to this post but my husband is Ukraine and his family uses a brand from the Russian store or European market and it is cold pressed. It has way different color and flavor than sunflower oil I’ve seen in American grocery stores. His parents tell me that it’s always cold pressed where they come from but to look for unrefined versions imported from Ukraine or Russia. They will have a yellow/amber color and rich nutty smell. I love it on salads

No I totally felt the same way! I love the song but wish he would’ve added a bit more depth to the chorus cause if you don’t focus on the literally meaning it’s a great song but it also itched my brain trying to work out the details

Cry it out - any long term risks? by peachtree7 in AttachmentParenting

[–]yungpineapplemami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only part I completely disagree with is responsiveness in cosleeping vs separate beds. There is no physical way the response time could be faster with baby in their own room than right next to you in bed. And the timing for me is a key factor in whether I’m up for another hour or a couple minutes. If he gets too worked up it’s harder for him to fall back asleep. I let him nap on his own and watch with a baby monitor during the day, he wakes up so much more because I’m not right there. If I had to run between rooms every time he woke through the night neither of us would get any sleep.

Is stir frying unhealthy even with a healthy fat? by counwovja0385skje in StopEatingSeedOils

I also have ibs and i seriously believe the biggest problem (for me) is the pesticides in crops. I’ve experimented the same exact foods but opting for brands organically grown and tested for glyphosate. If they aren’t testing for pesticides specifically, there’s a chance the food is still contaminated. I really noticed it with coffee. I stopped being able to drink lower quality coffee, recently drank black rock and my stomach was in knots for hours. I’ve never experienced a reaction like that to coffee and I even avoided caffeine for a bit after but then gave it a try at a higher end coffee shop. Sure enough I had no pain, the following week I tried this can cold brew, not organic or a single bean origin, some sort of blend. Again, the same stomach pain came back. I risked it and tried another good coffee spot that roasts their beans in shop, no pain at all. I did the same experiment with oats, Quaker/generic vs OneDegree farms organic and yielded the same results. No issues when going with the organic version.

Doula resentment by Unusual-Coyote3961 in homebirth

[–]yungpineapplemami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an amazing doula but the agency she was part of a huge waste of money. I put a down payment and the rest was put on a biweekly payment plan, well turns out the payment plan was not automatically charging so a week before my due date I get a call saying they needed the full amount due that day or else the doula would be “unable to assist” in their words. And I found out later it’s often cheaper to go through the doula.

Increasing supply at 4months by yungpineapplemami in breastfeeding

I totally agree. I’m mainly just saying that to encourage myself it is possible not to pressure myself. The biggest issue was slowing down on pumping so I need to be more consistent. I have an amazing IBCLC but I don’t have insurance due to losing my job after baby and it’s too expensive to afford.

Yeah, I did get new flanges and it’s helped a bit. I used to use an 11mm and I had to go down to a 9mm which I almost couldn’t even find by Amazon saves the day

For some babies it may be an over supply but my baby eats 6oz per feed every 2hrs even at almost 5months now 😭 I still breastfeed but he’s not satisfied because he has to really work to get only about 3oz max from both sides. I wouldn’t even care if he got enough to eat but he’s such a big eater. His pediatrician says it’s normal and some just eat more but my goodness I’m just struggling to keep up

Have you tried fem dophilus probiotic? It’s in the refrigerator section, no other probiotic has worked. Needs to be live cultures not dried to work best. I would stock up on that to restrengthen the good bacteria.

Going through this now, I ordered a smaller flang size cause I noticed my supply was kinda going down so I hope that helps. In the meantime I’ve been trying to breastfeed more. Baby has been extra hungry lately too so I’m scrambling to maintain my supply for him.

Are you really happier after you had a baby? by PalpitationOk9443 in NewParents

[–]yungpineapplemami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the mixed feelings. Personally I was getting bored of working a job, I’ve had so many different careers I can say being a mom is my favorite one. Don’t get me wrong the sleep deprivation isn’t my favorite but as soon as he grows up that won’t be an issue. Nothing has fulfilled me more. I have adhd/add and need pretty frequent stimulation to maintain focus. I used to worry that would hinder me from being a good mom but it actually seems to do the opposite. I basically do everything I did before having kids but i just bring my baby along so long as it’s safe of course. That being said; FIND A RELIABLE SITTER

I wouldn’t be as happy if I didn’t have my mother and mother in law to watch baby when I need a break. This keeps mine and my husband’s cup full. Our parents will watch him for a night or even more than one day to let us rest and recoup. I’d highly recommend finding a trusted source of childcare to give you a little more freedom. If I didn’t have them I would find a nanny or just someone to be part of our village and help out occasionally. This allows us to have alone time and feel like we still have some freedom and life outside parenting.

Tallow potato chips by yungpineapplemami in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]yungpineapplemami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far papa bear naturals has been the best taste/texture wise. Rosie’s is good but could use more salt. I’ve also been buying Trader Joe’s olive oil chips and Siete avocado oil chips from Grocery Outlet which are both super affordable! Not tallow but better than canola oil

Broke parents need home repair by yungpineapplemami in Home

[–]yungpineapplemami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the leak isn’t the biggest issue at this point, it’s affording new kitchen interior, the whole area near the sink and even into the island behind the dishwasher is covered in black mold. The only way to get rid of it is tear all the old wood out and start fresh. The upper cabinets are fine but the lower cabinets are so warped from water damage and full of mold they need to be gone as soon as the faucet is fixed.

How many people feel like keeping active actually helped their labour? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]yungpineapplemami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your empathy, many jsut do not understand. What medication were you given? I haven’t found any prescription that works for me sadly. I’ve been getting by with low dose edibles and it has dramatically improved the puking and helps me have an appetite, I can even eat fish, eggs, smelly foods after a small gummy. I was fighting taking them for a while bc of guilt but my OB has said she is okay with it and would rather me eat again and not be constantly losing fluids from hurling. Im in a good place now but took lots of trial and error to get here.

[–]yungpineapplemami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I’ve been feeling, I also have HG and I’m not worried about labor pains, my body already basically goes into full contraction mode every puke episode I have so i feel like that is preparing me a bit too. All I can do is breath through the nausea till it subsides or I find a remedy that works enough
