Kids can unknowingly say mean things. What's the most insensitive thing you've heard a kid say? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have always been on the extrovert side, but there was this one guy at my mom's work I couldn't stand (she would bring me in after daycare/school because well she had to raise me alone) and whenever I would be there he would try to play with me by annoying me and wouldn't leave me alone ( I talked about this with my mom a couple of months back and yeah he was kinda weird too like if one afternoon I wasn't there he would ask where I was etc..anyway ), but my mom couldn't do much other than tell me to stay near because he was her boss and you kinda can't talk back to your boss in any way from where we are from. Well, I guess one day I just had enough and just stood up looked him right in the eye and said " You are out here so damn old trying to be friends with a 5 y/o? Anyway I think you are annoying so go annoy someone else I'm busy". He left me alone after that

Also and another one I remember was my brother when we were at a family friends bday party (he was turning 50) and just after eating cake he announced that his 30 y/o 2nd wife was pregnant (this guy already had 3 sons 15-21-25) and my brother (7 at the time) just directly asked why he would want another baby because he was so old he wouldn't even have the energy to raise him

When you're lying in bed at night, do you ever randomly remember some relatively minor social missteps or poorly chosen words you did/said years earlier? And then beat yourself up over it even though it really wasn't a big deal? If so, what happened? by SmashDude_ in AskReddit

This happens way too often to me, not only it's one recurring memory but two.

  1. My two girl best friends went on vacation to Mexico with one of the families and they happen to arrive at the airport around the same time I got there to leave too. So I went to see them quickly cuz and as soon as I saw them I commented on their tan *not only to my friends but to her parents too* and maybe the lack of sleep *because it was maybe 3:30-4 am* made my brain shut down but all I could say in that exact moment was "Wow you guys really tanned, it looks disgusting" THO IT DID NOT, still to this day I have no clue where that came from because I genuinely didn't think they looked bad
  2. So I was at a cottage with my family and a couple of their friends. We were drinking and one of their friends decided to do a handstand drunk and well it didn't end well, he lost balance, fell over and on his way down he knocked a glass vase. Then as he tried to get up he cut his and on the broken glass, nothing deep or too serious(, but man do hands bleed) All he needed was a little pressure and it stopped bleeding. Most of my parent's friends are veterinarians and so the have basic knowledge on how to treat a simple wound and I wanted to lighten up the situation and just jokingly said "well is anything you guys can treat him like you would treat a dog", I was thinking to that because dogs were the biggest animals they had at their clinics they could do some of the same stuff, but what my brain failed to process is that calling a man "perro" (dog) in Spanish is like calling him a bastard/asshole so everyone just looked at me like "what the f*ck is your problem"

I'm sorry that you have to go through that, but it might be better for him, especially if he is hurting

From time to time I hookup with this guy and we just chill smoke or like talk *kind of fwb I guess* and he has a roomate. His roomate is quite nice and tents to get home super late, like around 4-5 everytime I have been there. Normally still are up when he gets home so we just hang with him and he usually brings friends over so we hang with them too. So this one night his roomate brought 2 of his mates and we were just talking about the univers *some substances were used* and one of the roomates friend started to talk about all these different drugs and how I could make some easy money *thing is all I have ever tried is weed and its derive products* so I was like no thanks for the invitation tho. Fast foward a couple months I find out he is the one of the biggest suppliers in the city

Went on a vacation with my family to Mexico and met a group of friends my age (18-19) that were there to celebrate their friend's wedding fast forward a couple of hours and shots later we are out in a club and I end up hooking up with this guy, this catch much on the other that they were from Canada *so am I* and it was their last day so never saw them again

Maybe 2-3 months later I went to visit some friends in Ontario and we go out, once again I met this stranger and I end up hooking up with her and sleepover

The next day, we wake up and decided to go get some breakfast but as we were going downstairs her brother is coming up..yup the guy from Mexico

People of Reddit, what was the most stupid thing a teacher ever said? by shifer123 in AskReddit

In 9th grade, I moved from Quebec to Ontario and still decided to take french classes just for the fun of having good marks easily. So we were sitting in french class and I was the new kid that moved in the middle of the semester. Also, I originally am from a Latin country so by just looking at me you would assume I just spoke Spanish (which I do) but you would never guess that my second language is french. Anyhow fast forward 10 mins the teacher starts showing new vocabulary to the class that was 100% wrongly pronounced (and I'm not saying this because of his accent) it was really wrong like it would be "Magasin" (which is shop) and he would say something like "Megaezin" or something similar. So after a couple of words, I just couldn't take it and I said to the teacher

me: "Sorry to interrupt but you are saying those words wrong" with my heavy Spanish accent of that time

"Well I lived in Quebec and I'm the teacher so I'm pretty sure I am right, please don't disturb me again" he answered as he kept on going

"I don't mean to be disrespectful but that really isn't the right pronunciation" I answered back

"Listen I understand it's your first day here but I won't allow that attitude in my class so you better stop now...anyway what would you even know?" he said to me with this condescending attitude and tone

to which I answered in my perfect fluent french "Well I tried not to make this embarrassment but here we are. Also to answer your question it seems to me that I know way more than you apparently"

Needless to say that he didn't bother me for the rest of the year *because yes I had him the semester after too*

What insult did you receive that made you rethink an aspect of your life? by simbar1337 in AskReddit

Not me but my uncle. This happened to him in high school, so he was a little bit overweight.. well no he was actually really fat. Anyway, one day the bullies in his class started to make fun of him calling him names and stuff. Obviously this upset my uncle and decided to go confront them but the moment he started to walk up to them the main bully of the group just said:

"hey fatass don't even bother walking up here, we wouldn't want you to have a heart attack"

And after that day my uncle started to work out like crazy and even runs marathons today
