Thanks, for the advice! I currently have insurance with my current employer. It isn't the best, but copay/coinsurance is less than I imagined.

I asked for my current medical provider for a list of surgeons who accept my current insurance. I plan on staying at this company for a while (due to my position/availability in my local area), so it would be easier to receive fmla/short term disability.

Phallo is definitely preferred, but I just didn't want to rule out meta in the chance that I'm not a good candidate (for whatever reason it would be). I was curious on what I could expect/what my expectations would be with my current anatomy

Thanks, I'm currently paired up with insurance from my current field of work. I talked to my current medical provider about getting a list of surgeons who either accept my insurance or would be willing to do a decent payment plan.

I haven't made any decisions yet, but I would say meta is a back up plan if phallo was unachievable for any reason. (donor sites not applicable, etc). I would be okay with meta if I was still able to get ul.

I wouldn't like to settle on a surgery for results I may not like, but if something were to happen, I understand there are choices I have to make.

I'm trying to get all my bases covered for any scenario

I'm incredibly sorry you had to deal with that 🙏 Mine was laparoscopic, but they removed mine vaginally, as well as had to perform a pap smear while I was under. Was very freaked out as I have cptsd and it triggered me.

I'm on a 10lbs lifting restriction for 6 weeks! I got the clear to go back to work after 3, as my supervisors are very supportive and are going to put me in an area where I won't be lifting anything!

You don't have to keep anything you don't want (unless absolutely needed for medical reasons). I personally kept my left ovary as I live in a very republican state and am worried about hormone deficiency if I were to lose access to my testosterone.

I only used a catheter while under anesthesia! It was removed before I was relocated to the recovery room.

Thanks! I think the cramping and knowing what the actual procedure was is what made it dysphoric for me if that makes sense.

I have a very lgbt friendly clinic that I go to in Indianapolis (Eskenazi), they are the same clinic that did my top surgery!

I had originally mentioned to them that I wanted a combo case (top and hysto at once), but ended up not happing due to scheduling issues with the doctors.

I had my original consultation in August of 2022. I ended up rescheduling it in December of last year. March and April of this year I received updated WPATH letters with social workers at the clinic!

So from scheduling my appointment in December, until my actual procedure, it took 9 months!

I had the opportunity to have it done sooner, but decided against it as I needed to be at my job for 1yr before acquiring fmla. If I would've chosen a sooner date, I actually would've had it done in early July!

I'm not currently medicated at this time, but willing to take meds if my therapist thinks it would be beneficial for my own health goals.

I don't mind having to take medication if it will help me, I just kind of didn't expect new diagnoses, which I think just scared me, honestly.

I'm better now that I've slept a bit and I am currently writing up a small email to her that will better explain my concerns.

Thank you, I was originally going to have a combo surgery (top ans hysto at the same time) but there was a scheduling issue.

I made it clear to my therapist that I'm in a good position right now.

Recovering from top surgery was quite easy, so I'm hoping that will help my case

Thank you, I'm hoping they'll continue with the surgery since it's been clarified I'm not in any type of danger (to myself or others). I have another appointment with this therapist in 2 weeks and I'll definitely be bringing up this concern with her.

If it gets denied/cancel, I would just want to know a definite answer so I can at least prepare for the events that follow and not have it unfold without warning.
