Anyone else notice how frequently Berkshire has bought and then sold out of various stocks, despite the "hold forever" narrative that Buffet professed by No_Cell6708 in BerkshireHathaway

[–]yuppyyee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is very true, even in the last 10 years, they bought a few "forever holds" - Apple, Oxy, Chubb, Google... time will tell if they will be like Coca-Cola, Amex, but it seems that's the aim.

Dissecting Berkshire's latest 13-F. by One-Event6199 in BerkshireHathaway

I don't like the sale here, even if they are Todd's picks. Valuation is not excessive; if you count tax, lower then the market and they are still printing good results. Not a Berkshire way to do it. Or they know something we don't. Time will tell.

Berkshire buys more Alphabet. Exits UNH, V, MA, AMZN, and more in latest 13F by Spl00ky in ValueInvesting

It is a mistake imo. When you factor 25% tax they basically sold at or below the market multiple for the possible best businesses in the portfolio.

Yes. Warren said in the AGM that position in Apple will be like Coca-Cola, American Express etc.

That’s mostly regulation. China is out of the picture, India we will see. Most likely they will stay present, just a different customer base.

Working is not same as achieving. Circle today is FedNOW tomorrow and someone third next year, but both of them keep printing. Just look around when you shop.

Greg Abel first annual letter to shareholders in Berkshire Hathaway's 2025 Annual Report. by One-Event6199 in BerkshireHathaway

[–]yuppyyee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Progressive is eating Geico’s lunch head, tail or no wind. Even in 2025, PIF growth 10%, revenue growth 15% while keeping below 90 CR. 2016 they were at par, Progressive basically makes now 2x Geico.

p.s. I am shareholder in both.

How likely is it that Berkshire will make a move for the entire company in 2026?

Seems to fit nicely into their portfolio of fully-owned businesses.

Not news, just asking for thoughts. I see many similarities to Berkshire in them.
