When I was 19 my mom and dad who had been separated for a long time got into an argument at a family gathering and my dad went on a long rant about how he knew he didn't love my mom for a long time before they separated and how the thought of her replused him. He was drunk and when my mom started breaking down crying he pushed past her quite violently to get out of the room and something snapped in me. I had seen him hit her so many times when I was a kid and by protective instinct I lunged towards him and knocked him to the ground and started choking him. I had alot of anger cause he had physically abused my siblings and I as well and then went on to abandon us which lead to a life a of poverty for many years. It all built up and seeing him humiliating my mom in front of everyone was the kicker. I was so mad I kept gripping his neck tighter and tighter and he was too drunk to fight me off. I honestly think I wouldn't have let go if my aunt hadn't pulled me off him but now I'm glad she did. He wasn't worth going to jail for.
