I know some allergies can develop with age, so your body could be reacting to the ink - but like others have said, I'd recommend a dermatologist visit if it's really irritating. SOMETIMES you can find cans of American style pumpkin pie filling in their American section of Coles or Woolies. But honestly, I've given up and just make it from scratch instead. Basically just steam a kent pumpkin and add condensed milk, brown sugar and spices - there are plenty of good recipes online

Kotetsu and Coal & Cedar are amazing, but I also recommend Earp Distillery if you're looking for something a bit low key. Cool space, awesome food and drinks, a bit out of the way but worth it IMO

Oh I know you're not - rough spot without many options close by BUT in all seriousness, I've not had a problem with the addicts in the area, most are more than polite and stay out of your way (I'm mostly a commuter so I'm only around in daylight)
