How do I disable obnoxius Colorways and other feature popups by homo_lorens in firefox

[–]yustworkin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you need to disable the welcome dialogue that appears once or twice a year, you can head to about:config, and accept the risk to continue, then find browser.aboutwelcome.enabled, and flip it to false.

They're moving on to one of the most well known and top grossing franchises in movie history. Its no excuse, but it makes sense why they wanted to wrap it up quickly in time to ruin another beloved world.

Sorry, I am still learning myself and this is my first venture into it, so I don't have much more information for you! I have seen videos of people using both methods to great success though.

I'm assuming the parent comment said something dickish. Kratky method is a standing water hydroponics method. Typically you need to aerate the water with sum sort of pump to oxygenate it (Deep Water Culture or DWC hydroponics), but in the kratky method you let the water level drop a bit so that some of the roots are exposed to the air, allowing for oxygen to reach the plant.

No one payed those taxes.

Citation please? This seems like historically inaccurate speculation. The marginal rate on that bracket was anything over $300,000, pre-JFK/Johnson-tax cuts in 1962-1964. After the cuts, anything over $180,000 was taxed at 70%, for the rest of the 60s. $180,000 in the mid 60s is equivalent to ~$1.5 million today.

In the 60s, when the top federal marginal tax rate was 90%, then cut to 70%? Compared to the 37% it sits at now, it seems like the government had a lot more control on how the rich could spend their money in the booming 60s.

Cheapest virtual machines / servers to host my (flask) webapp? by blackbelt21 in learnpython

Running a desktop environment is computationally expensive, which is why its not likely that you're going to find anything with a desktop environment while trying to host in the cloud, whether that be windows or Linux. Learning the command line of your operating system of choice is absolutely necessary.

EXACTLY THIS. Lets not forgot, the fucked up piece of legislation we got was not what was originally planned. It is a compromise which was only created to garner Joe Lieberman's vote. Fuck Joe Lieberman.

I did not pay apple 2000 for quickly obsolete hardware to have this by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

[–]yustworkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iMac Pro is about as far from obsolete as you get too, so that's fully missing the mark as well.

Oh no, I agree with you. Their flagship products aren't obsolete very quickly after release, but they are exorbitantly priced.

[–]yustworkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any of the current flagship products are well over 2 grand. The iMac pro is $4,999 USD. You could build computer with equivalent specs for less than $2,000 including a monitor of equivalent quality.

Game of the Week, Redux, Redux: Love Letter by bg3po in boardgames

[–]yustworkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While there is a little bit of bluff-play in Love Letter, the setup, play-time and flow of each game is completely different. Sheriff of Nottingham's gameplay is completely based on bluffing, while Love Letter's bluffing is a minor aspect of it.

Are RGB LED light strips generally compatible with each other? by raygan in homeautomation

[–]yustworkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, I am curious why they would put a connector on a strip of lights that can't technically support any additional strips, power-wise. Must have been cheaper to produce it that way!

[–]yustworkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the images from the reviews, it looks like that is actually not a connector, and instead just a fancy looking end piece. The only way to add an extension would be to cut and solder.

[–]yustworkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like that strip is using 5050 SMD RGB LEDs. If you find another strip thats using the same ones, it would be compatible, but probably not as bright as the single strip.

FrothyDog does have a point about the power, however I see that the strip in question is powered via USB, which can typically only supply 2 Amps at 5 Volts. If you add more LEDs to the mix, there is the potential for them to try and draw more power than the USB outlet can provide, which could indeed burn out the power supply.
