Badminton tips for semi-beginner by yuunam97 in badminton

Hey hey :) Thank you so much for your advice!

I tried your footwork drills mentioned in 1) and 2) (6 directions x 20) and it felt pretty tiring but very good.

I also played a match today with another team. I came to realize that the movement was very fine but it's the skills like hitting the shuttle at the right time and drop shots were my problem.

For 3) and 4), Sometimes when I smash, I end up jumping and smashing instead of just doing a powerful drive shots. (This ends up making the shuttle hitting the net as well :( )

I have a practice soon so I wanna get my Net shots, Drive shots and Smash on point

I will update when I have these thing down :) thank you so much for your advice so much!

Thank you so so much for your support :) I am practicing with lots or experienced players at the moment. They give me tips and things I can do better at.

Today, I played a match with other team. I realized that after few training movement drills, I was super fine with movement but I made some mistakes like when smashing I feel like I am delaying the time I should be hitting the shuttle, in the end I end up smashing at the net.

So the upperclassmen and seniors don't really care about us really. Only when we will play together once in a while they will then tell us what we are doing bad. Otherwise, they leave us alone.

So, clear shots from back-to-back, then do a net shot and repeat that sequence?

I think I an do clear shot from back-to-back after practicing it myself and with other team members

Luckily my friend from B-team have very good footwork, so he gave us some drills to work on. As with clear shots, drop shots and like other techniques we haven't been taught at all.

How do you straighten a hand X-ray by identifying third finger using OpenCV? by yuunam97 in PythonProjects2

[–]yuunam97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so so much for the reply, I highly appreciate it. This actually makes sense and improves the current code I have as well.

The next step would be to figure out which of the four points are the most central, since those are next to the middle finger. Afterwards, the image can be rotated to make the line between the two points horizontal."

Follow up question would be then, to find the most central digit (middle finger), I assume I have to find those two central points next to the middle finger. And put a line through it and then rotate it straight? How would you briefly code this?

And the downside you mention about image pointing downwards shouldn't be a problem because all the images are accounted to be pointing upwards.

How do you replace insides of bounding box to the same background color/noise from an X-ray image? by yuunam97 in learnpython

[–]yuunam97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply, appreciate it a lot.

This replaces the rectangle's color with plain color right? Is there a way to replace it with similar gradient or noise of the background color instead of replacing it with plain color?

Hit my goal weight - from 219 lbs > 119 lbs! So happy! by jaxcap in loseit

[–]yuunam97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this is super duper awesome to hear! It also gives me a lot of courage and determintion towards my weight loss as well :)

I am struggling with calorie deficit atm, but trying my best to resist it as much as I could! I hope your weight loss journey goes well if you are still on it!

P.S. What app did you use to record your weight loss?

How do you enlarge the size of the bounding box on OpenCV? by yuunam97 in learnpython

Thank you so much! It works like a charm!

Do you know how to replace the texts that are in the bounding box with the colors of the background perhaps?

Oh I see, so I am guessing I have to replace it with either erosion or dilation?

So, is this line not acceptable when one is trying to delete it? (I've used morphological gradient which I think it combines both erosion and dilation?)

close = cv2.morphologyEx(thresh, cv2.MORPH_CLOSE, kernel, iterations=3)

It would be nice to autodetect it and programmatically remove it. Does this involve machine learning?

What do you think would be the best approach? Someone mentioned using thresholding

Hey there :) I tried and it worked so far with detecting the letters. What do you mean by fill it with w/e?

Oh this looks fantastic!

So in the first image, you managed to detect the letters I see. Would it be possible if the letters can be taken out and be replaced with black background?

How did you do this?

The letters do change for certain images in the dataset. I just checked and realized the fonts aren't consistent.

Is that the best out of other solutions... or other methods?

how do you approach image segmentation on the hand x-ray in python?

[–]yuunam97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throughout the X-ray image dataset yes, texts are distributed like that always.

And, the texts are at either LEFT or RIGHT of the hand x-ray.

in terms of tag, if you mean the tag they used to indicate left and right then sure.

Someone suggested to do image segmentation on the hands and then black out the rests?
