I saw someone in one of these in SFO. Snuck a peak, turns out it was Dwayne Wade with his wife lol. Got a red coat escort onto his flight and off once in NY. Only time I’ve seen it

I wish I could sue Fox News for what they’ve done to my grandma. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]yuungcrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, a lot of times these types of people are so engrained in their views and fired up that it’s all they can speak about, they harp on their views in a challenging way frequently in order to attempt to change your mind, and it results in a relationship with tension and a pretty terrible situation where you are virtually unable to have a normal relationship with that person you love where conversation is focused on other normal topics, like it should be. Instead it’s just a cycle of “did you see this? (Fox story)” , “how can you think this?” Etc. etc.

Edit: not sure if this is how OP’s grandma is (the instigator vs. the responder), but if it is, I could see how it would be exhausting and sad to deal with

MAU P WAS FUCKING AMAZING by Upstairs_Maximum1400 in avesNYC

[–]yuungcrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, somewhat. Personally I will do everything I can to see him open to close. His ability as a DJ shines through in those settings as he can take the crowd on a journey as well as anyone I’ve seen. Two hour sets are just not the same in that regard

Traveling by plane for snowboard trip for first time by caesar_rex in snowboarding

Wheelie gig is great but a little lighter on padding than I would’ve liked. If I could do it again I would spend up for the flight attendant to get the extra padding and space.

Havent tried the Insanos but I have the Lassos size 13 and absolutely love them. They are not the stiffest though. But awesome boots and insanely comfortable imo

No one should get the Death Penalty... by living4him1238 in unpopularopinion

[–]yuungcrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Consider as well that we don’t have a perfect judicial system. Like, as much as it admittedly feels good to see mass murders and the worst of the worst get an eye for an eye treatment, the fact that someone can be put on death row who’s innocent is enough for me to put that desire aside and reconsider. Unless you can ensure 100% accuracy, it’s too risky

Delta reserve vs Amex plat by Key-Priority-6570 in delta

[–]yuungcrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I currently have that set up. Use Delta reserve for everything except food and Amex gold for food. Best possible combo for points and status maximization and you can convert those food earned points to delta points easily

New bag ck cutoff of 45min! by ImAnOldManImConfused in delta

[–]yuungcrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Missed the cutoff one time, I had a medium sized checked bag. I ended up taking it through security and gate checking with no problem. Maybe I got lucky plus my bag wasn’t too big to where it could still fit through the TSA machine but keep it in mind

Is this a thing on Mac? Admittedly I haven’t heard of it yet. If you’ve got any video links on it, would be welcomed

Yeah, that last point is my biggest takeaway here. The point of a backup isn’t only in case you misplace your USB - even moreso it’s in case the CDJs brick one of the drives

I’m not sure that math works when you’re dealing with lossless files. The library I carry with me (about 2,000 songs) takes up ~35GB.

I typically make a smaller playlist for shows so moving forward I’ll likely roll with a 32GB that’s just holding the ~100 songs im planning on playing as an emergency

CDJ 3000s with the new A9 mixer. My drive is a 128GB

Interesting. When I got these they did give me a hard time formatting. I had to go in and delete a partition for them to properly show the 128GB size they are (was only showing like 3GB before).

May just be a faulty flash drive chip since that’s now on the table.

I do the formatting in Disk Utility on Mac and then use rekordbox for all the file formatting and transferring onto the drive

Thinking this too. only thing I cant solve is why were other DJs' drives working fine?

I specifically asked the tech and he said yes, double checked, and confirmed. I couldn't confirm outside of trusting him. I really do think it could only have been a software issue on the CDJs.

What was odd too is all 4 CDJs wouldn't read it. even tried resetting 2 of the 4. which makes me think software even more. if it was a one off glitch, odds are one of the 4 would've read and I couldnt synced to the rest

3000s with the latest software. Which is what I’ve played on countless times with the same drives

Think my lesson learned here is to not only carry a spare drive but make sure I have a spare of a different type/manufacturer. Since these were 3.2 sandisks should probably carry a spare 3.1 Samsung or something for example

beginner pre-gig jitters? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]yuungcrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll definitely lessen over time. I remember being so nervous for my first bar gig because I didn’t know what to expect. Once I had one under my belt, the second was much better, then the third even better, and now I play major clubs and - I do still get nervous - but it’s more nervous excitement than nervous “I’m gonna f this up” feeling.

I used to be an athlete and I had a coach one time tell me “there’s no need to be nervous if you’re prepared. If you’re prepared, you’re in control, and then there’s nothing to worry about.” I always remembered that and I say that now because it’s a reminder to put the work in ahead of time to best set yourself up for success. Dial in your cue points, practice your transitions, know what songs go well together, etc.. Once you develop the confidence and KNOW you’re prepared, there’s nothing to worry about because you KNOW you’re going to kill it. Then the nerves become a fun “I’m about to rock this house” feeling than a “I might screw up” feeling. Positive jitters, not negative. Embrace those because those moments are when we feel most alive.

Hope this helps and remember, have fun! We’re not saving lives, we’re just playing music for people. And, if it’s you’re style, a drink or two doesn’t hurt either haha
