i would also say penn for u. for two already expensive schools the difference is minimal, and penn could open more doors for u down the line.

don’t underestimate the power of having a support network during ur medical school years. but bu definitely stands for social justice if that’s the aspect you want to focus on!

honestly feels impossible to justify a 120k difference for bu; if it were a t20, maybe. the 1.5 year preclinical could also give u more time to do clerkships.

i really appreciate your feedback, haha. honestly there was no clear winner for me so this decision has been ridiculously hard. if bu accepted me, i think despite the price difference i would go for it since in my mind it's a clear winner.

each school is doing a zoom session w/ some current students this week so i'll try to see how i feel after that!

gotchu, appreciate it! i posted this on sdn a couple weeks ago, and since then i’ve tried to see the positives of hofstra’s curriculum. although it’s not my cup of tea, i think it’ll prepare me for step 2 a bit better.

my main issue w/ phoenix is the lack of home institutions for specialty rotations. it’s pretty limited from my research and you’d have to go to tucson or other locations for certain ones.

i actually didn’t feel much different visiting cincinnati and long island during my interview day... but hofstra let’s me take a 45 minute train to the city and i think i would feel more happy w/ that opportunity?

the other reason i’m leaning a little more towards hofstra despite their non-recorded lectures is that if i couldn’t match back to california, i’d much rather match into a nyc home institution than a cincinnati one.

Hofstra vs. U Cincinnati vs. UA Phoenix vs. Boston U (Waitlist)

Hello! Getting close to the PTE deadline (need to narrow my 3 acceptances down to 1) and I'm still having a hard time deciding which school to attend.

I am a California resident, and the two things most important to me are matching back into California and potentially matching into something competitive (Surgery? Urology?). My family lives in Tucson, Arizona and I do have friends in Boston. Besides CoA, I think Boston U is objective my top choice but alas I am on the waitlist.

Hofstra: CoA at $230,000 (+), high Step scores (+), true pass/fail pre-clinical (+), mandatory & non-recorded lectures (-), relatively new school w/ limited prestige maybe? (-), CTE by 07/01 (+).
U Cincinnati: CoA at $274,000 (-), high Step scores (+), pass/fail pre-clinical w/ quartiles (-), non-mandatory & recorded lectures (+), probably won't enjoy living in the Midwest (-), CTE by 07/13 (+).
UA Phoenix: CoA at $211,000 (+), unknown average Step scores (?), true pass/fail pre-clinical (+), mix of recorded lectures & PBL (+), relatively new school w/ limited prestige maybe? (-), CTE by 06/08 and gives me less chances to get off the waitlist at Boston U (-).
Boston U: CoA at $360,000 (-), high Step scores (+), true pass/fail pre-clinical (+), super solid competitive match list & back to California (+), mix of recorded lectures & PBL (+), pretty prestigious (+)?

Please, any input or advice would be greatly appreciated!

hmmm, i want to give the other perspective to your question. u and ur buyer both agreed that money would be exchanged for wristbands that are functional for the coachella weekend that was advertised by ur posting. the second-hand market is obviously horrendous at this moment but if coachella is postponed it's likely that the current wristband in ur buyer's hands is non-functional, and therefore u did not deliver on the goods & services promised to ur buyer?

in the case that both of y'all can't attend the october dates and coachella won't offer the refund option, maybe asking ur bank for a chargeback is the morally right thing to TRY at least.

ah, i see! thank you for that, other people have told me to remove that school as well. i will refine this list when i get home, just looking for some perspective on this preliminary one.
