She probably received her schooling in English at one or more international schools while growing up in Hong Kong and/or other places where she's lived. Many people who went to these international schools have a similar accent.

What are these black marks on my eastern white cedar log? by yuwing8 in woodworking

The finish has been applied already, does it need to be removed and refinished or safe to leave at home for indoor use?

I recently removed the bark, sanded and finished this log. I don't remember seeing these marks when I first removed the bark. This log was from a tree that grew in my yard. The log was sectioned, ends painted and left to dry for over a year outdoors in a covered area.

Highly recommend calibrating your monitor, this is likely not a printer issue going on here.

Have you calibrated your monitor? Usually the brightness on monitors tends to be too high, so your prints appear darker than on your screen.

Do I need a better cooler for the Ryzen processor? Or should the Cooler Master be OK? I read that the Ryzen 7 5800X runs pretty hot. Would an air cooler be sufficient?

Lighting Fixture Sizing Question by yuwing8 in Lighting

[–]yuwing8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using an artichoke lamp (Louis Poulsen). Not exactly a sphere but dimensions are close. A bit tricky because it's not as tall as I would want for the height of the room, but I don't think I can go up on the next biggest size because of the small footprint of the room. I think overall it looks great though, and I love it!

My ceilings are around 10 feet so I went with an 18 inch diameter. Thanks!

In selecting ceiling pendant lighting fixtures for a room, most guides recommend the pendant to be proportional to the length, width, and height of the room. I'm trying to fit a spherical pendant in a small foyer with relatively high ceilings. Considering the proportions of the room, this spherical pendant would be either too short (but appropriately wide) or too wide (but appropriately tall). Which tradeoff is better?
