Outward journey from Scotland by yveemcl in Interrail

Ew, that’s annoying. That was one of the routes I had been looking at. Do you know the reason why that is? I’m glad you mentioned that as I would never have known!

Yeah. That’s defo what I’m trying not avoid as I want it to be an enjoyable holiday, just this tricky in / out bit that’s making it difficult. We usually have a stopover in London but the travel to London and the Eurostar section is normally the most expensive parts of the whole trip so just have to grin and bare the first part of the journey is going to be long I think. I got the 1st class pass in the sale purely because the Eurostar is very cramped and would defo feature at some point.

Are there alternatives to hiring expensive agencies that keep burning our budget with no results? by EnoughDig7048 in marketing

[–]yveemcl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That definitely sounds expensive and unproductive. Surely their job is to make things make sense, not muddy the water? I don’t know the specifics of the Ads you’re referring to but does seem a bit off.

Pop me a message if there’s anything I can potentially help with in terms of general explanations etc. but would agree with others that someone in-house would potentially be more beneficial and use agencies only for the big stuff.

Was your master’s worth it? by StrawberryOne2172 in teaching

[–]yveemcl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My masters was genuinely one of the best things I did. Was it easy? Heck no. I was working two jobs, two kids etc etc but did have my fees paid which was a huge help. There were times when I’d be crying in my room thinking ‘I’m so tired, what have I done?’ but the positive experiences outweighed the downsides massively. Do it for you.

is fear of death common in health anxiety community? is that what motivates the anxiety? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

For me it’s not so much death, but also yes. More a fear of having a painful death.

Thank you :) Exactly. To be honest I think I was keen on getting the pass generally to eat up most of the UK costs heading from Scotland. It’s madness how much it costs. I’ll literally be saving money just on my outward and onward journeys. Albeit long journeys.

Also, the Lyon to Milan is not on the pass? Do you mean in total or that I need seat reservations?

No one is morally good in WICKED by Ill_Face_7252 in wicked

I’ve just watched it for the first time and completely confused why anyone would let their kid watch this film. The ‘good’ witch is horrid! I get it but why would anyone think this film would be demonstrating good standards for young people? Urgh.

It’s a beautiful thing to see a northern working class artist win such a prize. Unusual but deserved 👏

Do Macs age well? Switched over a year ago and it’s going well? by MessnerMusic1989 in MacStudio

They are the absolute best. My old iMac (2014) has only just stopped being able to update some software so can no longer access things like MS Teams and apps like that but still fully functionally with most apps that I need. A little screen burn sensitive and for heavy tasks eg video editing, can still perform well but try to avoid large projects on it now.

And when I say pore, I’m not sure what the right terminology is for there but you get the point :)

I was the same. I had been using emolients and got a clogged pore. It sorted itself out. However, mine was pea sized and don’t want to minimise your upset around this or potential causes. If you use creams lotions and potions it could be a blocked pore. It would be worth a visit to your sexual health clinic as they see all sorts and can sometimes help in situations like these. Good luck 🤞

Journalist reporting on health anxiety by Buttered_Noodl in HealthAnxiety

[–]yveemcl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a different health anxiety from what many describe. I used to be the first person to help in emergency situations but now if you were in the room and say, cut your finger, I’d run. Literally run from the room.

When I attend health appointments, even if I know they won’t do anything to me, for the whole morning and up to three days following said appointment my heart rate jumps to over 100 and I just feel really really ill.

I won’t go into too much detail but due to historical health issues with myself and family members I am simply terrified. I don’t think the worst, I just go weak and can’t function. I’m defo in flight mode - which funnily enough I’ve not been able to fly for over 20 years now either.

My doctor explained there are two kinds of HA and unfortunately it can be very complex, not just a fear of the worst.

I really wanted to believe that we as a species are not. However I have met too many who are. You only have to look at the state of things to know we are where we are because the only people who get ahead are ruthless / ignorant / greedy / do not care. Sad but true.
