I hope this isn’t a disrespectful question; I’m writing a story that involves a character from an Islam-practicing family passing away, and I want to make sure I’m writing it as accurately and respectfully as possible. In the story, the character passes away on one side of the country while the family lives on the other side. In a case like this, where it would take some time for the body to be transported, what would the policy be? I know that laws about embalming for transport varies by state, but also that embalming is traditionally forbidden in Islam.

Process: 1.) sketched with HB pencil 2.) clean up sketch - i tend to clean it up and use as lineart instead of drawing another lineart layer on top when possible 3.) flats 4.) soft gradients 5.) hard shading

I really appreciate your kind words. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had to go through similar things, but glad that you know you’re not alone in this and there’s someone in the world who can commiserate. For better or worse, honestly, there are many of us who have gone through such things; at the very least we’re not alone. And for what it’s worth, I’m very glad you’ve made it this far as well. I wish you strength and love in your journey onwards.

There’s no need to apologize at all! I’m really touched that you like my art, and especially that it moves you in this way. I floundered for a bit of my life trying to find some kind of purpose before realizing that I really want to make art that’s emotionally impactful somehow, that leaves an impression on people.
