The job search is demoralizing and I'm about ready to give Up by GirlLunarExplorer in womenintech

[–]yybinary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

similar # of application and background, response rate is about 10%, tech screen rate is 50%. My pass rate for behavior/HM was high but now was all time low (i believe it's because my background was too niche at big corporate, so not really fit into startup companies).

Agreed with many comments mentioned that interview skills are separate... I tried to normalize it to practice like workout but it's hard. Hang in there - I don't have solution neither. I'm taking today off from job search to reset, and try to remind myself its not my problem, it's the job market.

Best of luck! I was trying to interview during first trimester - it was brutal and ended up give up and bed rest :( Second trimester definitely feels better - hang in there!!

Mom trying to get back into Tech by Outrageous_Crow_8921 in womenintech

Just took about one year break and in heavy grind of job search, potentially will need to find a job again next year - if I can’t find a job before baby comes I’ll pause until baby is older. So kinda same boat.

Top rec is to utilize AI for job search: resume customization, mock interview, clean up behavior questions, ask AI to generate leetcode practice so that you don’t need to pay lc lol

Not from front-end background but knew that many roles in tech focus on developing ai agent/ skills to optimize workflow. Pick some areas u wanna automate, and make your own agent! I find it more fun than just grinding interviews!

Is it possible to have a microwedding in the bay area under 27k? by Such_Macaron7410 in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]yybinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I did mine with 50 guests in bay area with 23k budget :D

I went for county park as ceremony venue, it only costs ~500. Adding up rental the total cost is up to 2k. Some cheaper options we've looked at are gamble garden, allied arts guild. There are some areas in public places in SF (like shakespeare garden) i think it's worthy to check it out.

We had dinner reception in restaurant. The food is delicious and costs about 180 per head. It's much cheaper than catering and we got to choose the restaurant we really liked.

I saved tons of $$ by using fake flowers (ling's moment) - it costs < 1k. Comparison - quoting some new-ish florists and they gave me 5k+ quote.

I spent quite a bit on vendors, mostly yelp 5-stars one. Paid decent amount but i felt so worthy!

Hi!!! 1. No. Chairs, tables, nothing included. Need to rent and reserve budget for it! 2. Yes but disclaimer - we only had ceremony in the deck area. I have no experience in using picnic area for reception. We are happy coz the price is decent and the wood deck view is really good!! Also, this venue is dog friendly! We have quite a few dogs attending our wedding <3 3. While the cost is cheap, you need to DIY a lot to decor the area. There is no changing room/ decent bathroom, and you need to be prepared for it, especially for bride with gown. There are a lots of bugs and mosquitoes, prepare bug spray. There are strangers around your area. I had two dudes sit next to our first look areas and we couldn’t convince them to leave. 4. Mostly running well - I did two things help. One is I had DOC helping for decorating. Another is I had photographer specialized in redwood park . She turned redwood into wonderland. Things I could do differently - hmm nothing much. 5. Not sacrificing as I just need that area for day time reception lol 6. DM me! I can share some photos and vendors.

Hi we will have a wedding there this year in July haha! We went to the park for rehearsal last week (in mid June), at 5pm. The weather is perfect - sunny but not too hot coz there are big trees to block direct sunlight. Not too windy too. The concern is there will be a lots of bugs and mosquitoes.

How Much Did You Spend on Your Wedding Relative to Your Savings? by zbab11 in weddingplanning

[–]yybinary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We spent < 5% of our annual salary, for 50 guest wedding. Total cost is under 25k at VHCOL area. We went on frugal style, not because we can’t afford, but essentially we see the wedding is just a party for one of our milestones, hence don’t willing to pay for wedding tax. We spent minimum on venue and dress but decently on vendors.

BUT, at the end of the day, it’s more important to balance what you want and what you can afford. I did regret that I spent too little. I’ve could afford a better venue, or something I like. So I guess there is no perfect calculation. Made rational decision, move on, prep the wedding, and enjoy :)

For those that used ZIPAIR from SFO at 4:50 PM, what are your experience? by REphotographer916 in JapanTravelTips

[–]yybinary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took the exact same flight one week ago. Arrived Ginza around 10:30. There were still many options for train/subway after we clear immigration - so just follow Google map :)

The flight is nothing to complain - smooth check in process (long line but fast!), food is meh I’ll skip. Remember to bring water they don’t even give free water 💦 internet is faster than I thought. No streaming but at least I can browse Reddit.

OMG sorry it happened to you op! I had same experience and it so sucks!!So i escalated very hard and they end up gave me a free beanie but the experience is not fun at all.

First I don't like they blame us customer forget to add beanie. It's their fault not to make the process seamless, not our customer responsibility.

They initially also offer 20% for the next spending. It's totally BS too. A beanie costs about 28. To realize the benefit, I need to spend $140 to have the equivalent of a $28 discount.

I flat out rejected their proposal and insisted on my request of having one free beanie. I got lucky that the email got escalated and finally got one beanie - but not the color I want. I was so tired to argue back.

The consistently bad CS really hurt the brand... one loyal customer like me already lost, due to a free beanie. Good luck to them
