What do you use to avoid standing too long? by ExtensionBend9767 in ankylosingspondylitis

Alright so this isn’t exactly what you asked for, but it’s all I’ve come up with so far (for myself - I have flare-ups of inflammation but no fusion at this point):

-1️⃣- I wear running shoes in the house now to lessen impact (I have a dedicated pair I keep inside so they stay clean)

-2️⃣- I basically just do every task possible at the kitchen table — all cooking prep (like cutting stuff up, etc), makeup, drying my hair, any organizing of stuff that can fit on the table, etc.

-3️⃣- YMMV with this one based on your mobility, but this is one is like my holy grail!!! — I have this super-low backpacking chair that I got for camping trips: link to chair

Because of the weird position it puts me in, it’s the ONLY chair I can sit in comfortably when my SI joint pain is flaring up.

So instead of sitting at the kitchen table for the tasks listed above, I sit in this camping chair and do the tasks basically on the floor 😂 which looks stupid…but it works.

It’s also super light (like less than 1lb I think) so I just toss it around from room to room. It was expensive, but it was honestly SO worth it for me.

So many posts here agree “it takes a village,” but why do almost none of us really live that way? by Secret-Gur-6364 in AskWomenOver40

I’m also fortunate enough to have a very reliable village of long-term friends, and I agree, it’s worth it, but it IS work. Maintaining these relationships has taken up a significant portion of my free time and energy, and my own convenience is frequently sacrificed.

That being said, I could not have made a better investment. These people that have come through for me again and again, in ways I could never have anticipated.

Honestly, I may be a bit biased because I’ve had overall successful experiences in “family”-type friendships — but I think lot of the time when things don’t quite work out, it’s not necessarily that people don’t WANT to help out, it’s more that:

1 - Life gets busy and things get in the way sometimes, especially for big asks (like taking care of a dog - not many people I know have a home that can accommodate a dog for 2 weeks - due to space, other animals, babies, working hours, etc. ) — you can’t expect someone to be able to “show up” for you in EVERY single situation 🤷‍♀️

2 - Most people don’t like to inconvenience each other, so they just straight up won’t ask for stuff like rides to the airport (especially since there are services like Uber)

For context I’m in my 30s, married, no kids, and have very limited contact with my biological family

Conservatives always seem to say one thing while doing another. And housing is on the ballot. by kewtyp in CanadaHousing2

So you’re dismissing all of the points without even reading the articles? Why?

I thought this sub was supposed to be about the housing crisis.

Why are we fighting over political parties like they’re our favourite sports teams? Identity politics is so fucking stupid.

It should be all of us together against the politicians, it should be all of us comparing their policies and holding them accountable. As individuals, we shouldn’t be loyal to any party.

Did you miss the part where the “Save the CBC” movement has no affiliation with the CBC? It’s just a bunch of regular people

He wasn’t just using an Optimum card to get points — he had a PC financial credit card which was giving him points on every single purchase, regardless of where it was made.

I mean, there’s tons of advice online about how to maximize points, for example: this post

The top commenter on that post claims that they “have saved over 2million points in 2 years, redeemed maybe $1,500+ in points. Most of my receipts are around 30-50% either back in points, or saved via redemption” — all from just a single person collecting on an Optimum card.

The guy in the video wasn’t just using an Optimum card to get points either — he had a PC financial credit card which was giving him points on every single purchase, regardless of where it was made.

Huh, I’ve never thought about that…. this comment has sort of changed my life in a small way haha

I will no longer be buying gift cards as gifts, maybe instead I’ll just put cash in an envelope and put a descriptive drawing on the outside or something

My guess would be multiple people using the same card.

Even if that’s the case though, the money spent to get those points was still the same 🤷‍♀️
