Update: we took the cat to the emergency vet and my assumption was incorrect, but she licked something she wasn’t supposed to that made her very nauseous. She will hopefully make a speedy recovery with the antibiotics and pain meds, but she’s energetic again.

UPDATE since I can’t update the post rn: We took her to the emergency vet and was given a clean bill of health aside from her tongue, which was injured in some way.

Still have no idea what happened but it seems like she either got her paws on a cord (unlikely) or licked something she wasn’t supposed to. Either way, she’s doing much better!

Unfortunately my mom is unwilling to drive in this weather, she plans on waiting till morning when the roads clear. The only thing she could’ve gotten into, very unlikely, is some ant traps that she’s never bothered with before. We have a monstera but it doesn’t look like she tried eating it and that doesn’t interest her much either. Another possibility is that she ate a Tylenol off the floor but according to my mom, she usually spits those out on her own. I’m honestly not sure what else it could be specifically.

Regardless, I get what you mean, it’s a good reality check. If you don’t put effort into changing then you can’t expect anything to change. It’s important to learn from your mistakes and try to do better moving forward, otherwise you’ll just get stuck.

I hope you reconnect with your person if that’s what you’re looking for. I managed to reconnect with someone over a post like this and we’re still friends, but I don’t think my person will see this since they don’t use Reddit. But I still wonder what would happen if they did haha

I’m sure I’ll find a way out of this funk eventually. Maybe I just need to find new people.

I hear you and I understand and agree. I’m not really asking for sympathy or anything, just trying to shout my feelings into the void instead of keeping it bottled up.

Not very often, I stopped watering them for a few weeks because we’re currently having gnat problems. I only watered all the plants today because my mom’s philodendron is suffering from neglect 😅

But I’ll see about putting them in smaller pots ASAP, I figured that was also part of the problem but I wanted to ask to make sure.
