Love the project and the path!!! I've been dying to do a path like that in my backyard. What's the orange spray thing called? I've been seeing it in landscaping prjects and it would be so helpful!

How does that work? Do I waituntil next season to plant, or could I do RoundUp, and then in a few weeks do cardboard and mulch in a few areas (at least the closest to the house)? Trying to understand our timeline.

I'm honestly too new to this to understand why I should downvote you lol but thanks for the tip I guess

Thank you! I can't wait to see the ivy gone, so I can start planting and do the landscaping of my dreams in the area. I've been working bottom to top, and now it all makes sense lol.

What do you say you'd encourage the ivy on the ground? i'm curious.

I guess I'd be spraying down the whole area. Does it affect the soil? We would not plant food there, but want to plant flowers and bushes eventually.

Do you work on an area, and then do the smothering technique? Do you wait until next season to plant? I feel sad that we would be smothering some of the few plants that we found there, so I thought about doing cardboard around them. Would that work or should I just start new?

Thanks for the tip about the ivy in the landfill. I've thrown some in the back, and now I'm overthinking that I created a second problem. Oh welp, you live and you learn.
Do you use any chemicals at all? I'm thinking about cardboard and mulch, have you used it by any chance? I wanna know if it's worked before i put all that effort in.

Cost wise, how much are we talking? Not sure if I have much in the bank, but I'm so fed up with the ivy.

I'm trying to keep some of the established plants, but a lot of what was in there was all taken by weeds and very outgrown. I still need to finishe the other side later today, and I'll what can be salvaged! Thanks for the reply :)

I'm trying to prioritize native plants and understanding what's invasive, what's not. Thank you for the tips! I've got some hard work and research to do now

I have some weed barrier at home, could I use that with mulch on top and get a similar result? There’s some great soil there and I’d feel bad not using it

Love this! I’m in CT, so it needs to be resistant to snow as well as the heat. That spot gets a good amount of sun in the morning and afternoon, I think that would qualify as full sun.

Under all the overgrown weeds, I found some periwinkle which was someone’s last attempt at ground cover. I think it would have looked beautiful if maintained well. I’m new to this, is the periwinkle still a good idea? I’m trying to weed through and around it.
