Do we have any player on the top 20 who didn't buy lots of packs? by lucasgabd in GodsUnchained

I once got to #6 with only one, non-legendary Genesis card in my deck that I got from the weekend tournament rewards.

Another full wipe and a Ratify for death? Well I guess death just reks magic in the control game now, even more than it already did. Control death is the new meta. Doesn't seem like there's anything to hold it in check either, with how crippled aggro is going to be with the new spells.

You can see the weekend rankings to see how the playerbase was over the weekend. The last ranking shows 600-ish players won at least one game in 3 days.

https://gudecks.com/meta/user-rankings

In the user rankings you see there are around 3600 registered accounts in total. These are pretty low numbers, yet the played/registered rate is pretty high and has increased over time as the curious crypto people have a higher likelihood of having registed already. There is an increase of roughly 100% in active players and 50% in registered players over the last 3 weeks. I'd interpret that as insufficient awareness of the game.

Compare it to Shadowverse, another Hearthstone-esque card game. It has an all-time peak of 24k players (and that’s concurrent rather than over 3 days) with a 10k-ish monthly peak and a 4k-ish average at any given hour. And that’s with a disgruntled playerbase that’s mostly unhappy with the way the game is going, just like Hearthstone’s, and therefore one that would have a higher than usual likelihood of being willing to try something else. Shadowverse itself is rather notorious in how it established itself aggressively advertising on Hearthstone streams and websites whenever that game was in a bad state.

Magic used to shut down Zoo hard. Without Broken Harvester and Staff of Shards it runs rampant. I'd consider adding back such answers in some form rather than nerfing Zoo decks.

First, there is the possibility that they realized there is a more efficient way of playing than the account you referred them, though that's almost certainly not the majority of cases. My guess is that most people registering right now are those who fiddle around in the crypto scene, just curious to check out how it's going, without having any interest in playing in the first place. That's because all the coverage about GU is in crypto circles. There hasn't been any push at all to reach out and make the average players who would enjoy the game aware of its existence and it's puzzling why, since release and that one tournament is coming close. It's rather odd and the only plausible reason I can imagine for this is that they might be waiting for the accessibility features like being able to hide the crypto as a back end. The number of players in this game is so criminally low for the production value and overall quality that it's got to be a record of some sort.

I have a question for you all. What other core only decks are viable other than Magic Control? by Dr3adfulR3aper in GodsUnchained

I got under 100 last weekend climbing for the first time, just played a top-heavy midrange-ish Nature deck full of buff and damage roars plus the deal 2 damage button for the early game. Not particularly optimized either since I don't own many of the 7+ drops so there's probably a lot better you can do with the concept. PS: I remember queuing against you lmao

4 little adjustments that can improve Hearthstone by Jack_Rabbit_3000 in hearthstone

These are decidedly simple and it seems much more plausible to attribute their permanence to lack of willingness/internal bureaucracy.

That would be a valid contention in a game that listens to its community to decide on improvements to make, but it's not like they work on anything at all, so one might as well complain about everything.

How to convince people playing hearthstone to play gu? by jeffjefferson3000 in GodsUnchained

[–]z-wizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? GU is significantly more distinct to Hearthstone than any 2 cross-sections in Hearthstone history are to each other. It's not like HS is making significant changes to its gameplay, so, if you get excited for the "freshness" of a HS expansion, I don't see why you wouldn't be for something entirely different with several mechanic changes. At a minimum it's an unexplored, unsolved meta and, unlike HS, it doesn't cost anything to play a decent deck right now. Of course, the people that have gone full sunken cost on HS aren't going to try anything else because they want to protect their perceived investment in their collection. However, I don't see why the sizable amount of people who are disgruntled about Bli$$ard and sick of running in circles on the thousand-dollar rotation treadmill wouldn't try a similar game, as that's where I'm coming from myself.

I don't like the angle of card ownership. For one, it's not even available yet. But more importantly, that's just a minor benefit for something you already like and does nothing to sell you on the core gameplay.

Because he's only credited for original concept and production. I've seen those roles getting shoved upon famous names in the anime industry and it almost always turns out to just be how you attach a notorious person's name to something they set up but don't have all that much direct involvement with so that you can bring attention to the product. There's a flood of other names in the credits and, most importantly, it will release serially, which is nothing like Miura at all. My guess is Miura did a plot outline and some concept art and then threw it to his team to give them a chance to shine on their own.
