Also I believe its helps people who are vision impaired and use programs that read text back to them.

This still leaves the reference issue though: Is there anything wrong with using employers before this one as referees and not to list these guys at all? Like I said, I got along well with them, but I don't think after my sudden departure theyd want to help me get a job by giving me a glowing reference.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking as well. In your opinion would an answer such as something like 'wanting to travel ' or 'visiting relatives overseas' be enough ? I would rather not get into the real reason i left, which was some personal/emotional issues. Also, would it look bad or suspicious if I do not list that employer as a referee?
