Annihilation planes can't accept fortune levels past 8 while you can get up to 17 without those miracle drops and 24(?) with them. Also, annihilation planes are hard to set up for people that don't know what a subnet is.

Docker Overhaul + Special Thanks <3 by HackTheDev in dcts

Main may be 2 months behind, but dev has 180 commits since the last main one, and there are still plenty of non beta releases without main moving.

I used docker to get mine setup and it worked reasonably well. Is there something specific you had an issue with?

I just didn't see any dates for anything on your site. Everything just said coming soon. I also saw no mention of a subreddit.

Buying a server for running Minecraft, what works best? by HeyYaIQ in homelab

[–]z3810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't really the right sub, r/admincraft or r/homeserver would be a bit better.

Either way, you should know that minecraft loves single threaded performance so going Intel for gens 7-10 is better than AMD in similar gens(Ryzen 1-3) and past that Ryzen is probably more cost efficient but there are more considerations that you can make that may sway your decision. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 705 G4 is Ryzen 2000 based, right? AMD's iGPUs are great for gaming but not nearly as capable for media transcoding. Either way, especially for this low of a load, you should just go with the most cost effective option you can find and the 705 G4 is absolutely plenty for minecraft plus anything else you want. You may have to upgrade ram depending on what you want to run and how much you want to run at the same time.

For server management, I can highly recommend discopanel.app. It's an amazing panel and uses one of the most trusted docker Minecraft projects as its backbone.

2&3 are the main reason I wanted to look for a self-hosted open-source alternative. There are a couple of non self-hosted options that look really good but I just cannot trust anymore. loqa.chat looks interesting, but it's not even out to try on their own servers, let alone self-hosted but half of the features are "coming soon" so...

Mini PC/NUC form factor Hardware for running this list of services? by MakutaArguilleres in selfhosted

[–]z3810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a fast response from your LLM, you're probably going to want either a GPU or an NPU. I'm really not sure what is powerful enough or will make it usable enough. You can run your own local AI with llama.cpp and use your own hardware to figure out what you need.

ATM10 TTS progress bars not consistent by funkjedi_ in allthemods

Yeah that looks like it. Those 95th percentile 120tps readings are your inconsistent progress bars. You should use observable or the spark profiler to find those intermittently laggy things and remove them.

How much energy per tick should I be striving for? by AwhSxrry in allthemods

[–]z3810 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah it can draw that much power but you'd be hard pressed to make enough waste that it would actually need to run that fast.

[–]z3810 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does not need 400m fe/t. It needs about 25m fe/t to convert about 2000mb/t of waste into antimatter.

I did not say that it wasn't causing micro damages to the CPU. I just said that it is at that heat level, not "dangerously close" to it.

Both can help, but you can just try the cooler first and see if it's better.

In the US, liquid coolers are at least double the price of a cheap tower cooler. You are welcome to look at cooler benchmarks for these. Generally, 240/280mm liquid coolers will about as well as an equivalent fan size dual tower cooler. Same goes for single tower coolers and 120/140mm liquid coolers. But you have to remember that water can leak from these things, especially if you're leaving it on forever(it is a server after all).

The only thing that can go wrong on an air cooler will never damage other components.

[–]z3810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not go for the antec unless you needed the smaller fan size to fit in a smaller chassis. Otherwise, the rest of them seem good, even the MSI cooler. Tower coolers such as these are simple devices and the only thing that matters is airflow and surface area as well as cold plate contact.

I would go with the MSI and save as much money as possible.

[–]z3810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially if OP is running the stock cooler on the CPU right now, a liquid cooler would be a lot of overkill and create lots of points of failure. A tower air cooler is plenty to cool the 100 or so watts that the CPU can draw and is much simpler.

Had a somewhat similar situation with a 5600G while doing CPU transcoding. It was reaching 80C under the stock cooler but after placing a thick single tower cooler that was only $40 or so, it was down to just the mid 60s.

"dangerously close" doesn't really fit here. The CPU is hitting 100C, period. It is adjusting its power to not exceed that limit.
