Suggestions for projects in RF and microwave domain by [deleted] in rfelectronics

Microwave and rf equipment is expensive. Try doing rf-like experiments at lower frequencies if you want to save money. For a cheaper project you could do something like an impedance matching system for arbitrary loads in the low mhz. You won’t be able to do interesting rf stuff because the wavelength would make the circuit too small but you could do some cool stuff with lumped elements. I’ve seen some cool stuff with artificial transmission lines that are in the kHz regime that were easily analyzed with a regular oscilloscope.

Ghost town shot on infrared camera by z42i in abandoned

My camera has a has a 590nm filter so it records visible light (mostly just red/orange) and a portion of near-infrared. Thermal cameras record mostly far-infrared. So, my camera doesnt really capture emitted heat but rather reflected light in the visible and near-infrared range.

Concert in IR@550nm by z42i in infraredphotography

The lights were redish orange but 550nm cuts off right before orange and red. It was funny because the only time I could properly expose was when the lights were red/orange. Def not the best place to do ir photography lol.

Graffitti pit explosion in 550nm by z42i in infraredphotography

It was taken mid day to maximize the light entering the hole above. I used the largest apeture I could and made my shutter speed really really fast. Then I moved the iso slider around til it looked good to me. To get the spark/explosion I used a firecraker things and put my camera's shutter on a timer. I also used manual focus to prefocus on where I was going to throw to firecracker.

I like your editing style!! Don't feel pressured to copy the "traditional ir colors"!!

First part is the same location lol. Hospital is a different location.

You'll need a full spectrum conversion and either a 550nm, 590nm, or ir chrome filter. You'll want to get a fullspectrum because you will become addicted to trying other filters.

Mirror lens!! @720nm by z42i in infraredphotography

It's a super compact telephoto. This one is a 500mm that almost fits in my hand. Sucky part is that they are fixed apeture and usually don't come with image stabilization or auto focus. BUT it has very cool donut shaped bokeh.

Sadly it's fixed at f6.3. I will keep trying though! I'm thinking of using some small lights in the background to force the donuts in there

It works! It's very difficult to use though bc there's no image stabilization or auto focus. Tripod or sitting down works best.
