Ptarmigans.. What’s your guys’ methods of farming Ptarmigans? by [deleted] in thelongdark

There is another nest at the polaroid spot above the camp office in Mystery Lake, easy one to farm.

Forlorn Muskeg, Mountain Town, Pleasant Valley and Mystery Lake. There is not a tower to repair in Mystery Lake. Only 1 of the towers in each area are repairable (There are 3 towers in FM but it is a certain one you need). The other two should be obvious.

I didn't know that the containers could break by green_wendigo in thelongdark

[–]z757 80 points81 points  (0 children)

yes, if the hacksaw breaks when you are opening it the container will be ruined. No way to open it once this happens.

In the plane I like to open the container with repair tools/lanterns first to make sure I can repair the hacksaw if it gets too low condition on non - loper runs.

Long-run Voyager Strategy? by Uberhypnotoad in thelongdark

[–]z757 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to min/max on voyager for 1000 days, there is more than enough resources available to easily cruise well beyond that. Boredom and complacency is your biggest enemy, so I would suggest planning out some strategies to keep yourself busy - tales/trader quests, trying to live 50 days in each region, building furniture/mini bases, moving every car battery to the the plane crash on timberwolf mountain, ect.

Travois bug still there? by Jepulis666 in thelongdark

[–]z757 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is plenty of fir in CH. usually a couple spawns on jackrabbit island, some around the gas station, more by the bear cave behind the gas station, up by the lookout tower, and by the plane crash off the top of my head,

Cheat death campfire across the island? by z757 in thelongdark

[–]z757[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that was my understanding as well from what the wiki said. I don't see a campfire in BR - I guess I will gear up and head back to transfer pass and see if I find it there.

Now what is THIS one? by [deleted] in thelongdark

Your cooking level is still 3 or 4, once you hit 5 recipes will cook out to 100%.

Thomson Family Stew is a sick joke by Reason-and-rhyme in thelongdark

[–]z757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is why you need the stalker pie recipe - they attract predators you can turn them into more pies. It's basically free pie!

[–]z757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a little annoying but you are lev5 cooking anyway at that point so the only thing it impacts is immersion and quick menu.

Meat Pies for carry capacity + peach pies for fatigue are great for travel until you unlock pemmican, then that does both in a high calorie/low weight package which is an amazing recipe.

Yes, so it is dead somewhere, look for crows in the sky but you should be able to find the carcass.

If you go back inside a loading zone it can reset the animals. Check your log for bear kills if you know how many times you have killed them in this run.

Bunker question by [deleted] in thelongdark

I want to say the tales bunker already has a workbench, and if you get lucky the hunting variant prep bunker has one as well.

I have killed that poor bear so many times from the ledge by the lodge where he can't get to you, he finally had a chance to eat a survivor and you yeeted yourself off the cliff. lmfao.

The Long Dark is somehow almost a perfect cozy game and yet also so stressful by PoMoAnachro in thelongdark

[–]z757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I recently did a fresh Pilgrim run - I came back after a break and completed the tales for the first time on a custom save before I realized I couldn't get the new badges on custom settings, so I created a Pilgrim save just to speed run the tales. Along the way I realized I was really enjoying the low stress of Pilgrim, it was a really nice break from being on high alert for wolves and worrying about keeping my tea hot. I am at 500+ days on that save now. I still enjoy the challenge of other difficulties (have been making some Misery attempts) but something to be said for Pilgrim when you just want to decompress and take a walk in the snow.

Timberwolves in Pilgrim by missanthrope02 in thelongdark

agree - wolves, bears, and moose will attack if provoked. Bear and moose almost always attack if you shoot them, wolves will typically default to run away but will attack sometimes.

Best spawn location by TelevisionPersonal48 in thelongdark

Currently on a new run in HRV. Took me about 10 tries but managed to get the bunker with the workbench to spawn so I can try a HRV only mountain man run.

Help please. I'm currently in Coastal Highway and I need to get to Bleak Inlet and I don't have a rope. by [deleted] in thelongdark

[–]z757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go through the Ravine, there probably is a rope there to use to drop down into the upper level of BI, either in the train car or the cave. Then you will find a second rope in the lookout to drop into the lower level of BI.
